Yes, I know not all mil time counts. Only up to 500 hrs when you were PIC of a multi-crew AC... blah blah, caveats yeah.

I don’t believe this is true. Yes, BI assignments are seniority based, but not everyone is eligible for a CA award, & I don’t see anything in the contract that states they can only assign 8-F-12 CAs if the eligible pilots are also the most junior in class.

So theoretically, you could have a BI class where 10 8-F-12s need to be assigned but the bottom guy isn’t eligible, so they assign the bottom 2-11 guys CA slots & the ineligible 8-ball gets an FO seat. I should say I don’t know for a fact that’s happening & I haven’t really seen any communications from the company or union updating us on the matter, but my reading of the contract doesn’t bind the company in the way you’re claiming.

As others have said, this is completely false. The most junior did not qualify therefore they were not able to bid for it. MANY of those with CA slots in the bottom 10 did not want it. Source - I know someone in that class.

So this is clear evidence United is forcing upgrades to new hires. All I have to say is LOL.

Even if it did work that way ... all the company has to do is segregate the non-eligible people into their own classes.

It is true. Listed exactly as you would expect in the bidding guide. Positions are selected in seniority order. If someone junior to another gets an FO bid and a senior person gets a CA bid, that senior person passed on the FO slot.

I have no idea where you are getting your information, but this is completely wrong. Talk to anyone in the last few classes. Happened a few weeks ago as well...down to the final 3 people with 2x 737 CA and 1x 320 FO....the 3rd from bottom wanted 320FO but ended up with 737CA because the 8 ball wasn't eligible for a CA slot

sorry thumbsup, I don’t believe you are correct, then again I don’t have anything definitive to prove it. It sounds like you do though. Could you point us in the correct direction of this publication? Or quote it from somewhere?

Can someone clarify do they need 1000 121 hrs before they are eligible for the award? Or will the 500 hrs of UAL time they earn as an FO count toward the 1000?
