ORD has been going fairly junior for 320/737 CA. Not sure why, but 320 CA is 148xx and 737 is 169xx

The first A321 NEO is in regular passenger service. It started flying passengers the last week of Nov. I flew it last week. Pretty sure #2 is in UAL hands but hasn’t started passenger service yet. The first NEOs will go to ORD per Flight Operations.
The A321 XLRs are delayed. Air Bus hasn’t certified them yet.

The seecond one, 4502, has been flying the PHX turns the past couple of days. (Heads up that the second flight deck jumpseat is defferred)

today starts ORD-FLL as well.

True that the XLR hasnt been certifed yet (latest ive seen is spring 2024) but really shouldn't impact United since we were not supposed to get them until late 2024, with international service in 2025.

LAX 737 FO went unfilled on the last vacancy bid. LAX 320 FO was about 500 from the bottom. So both have been really fast if not immediate.

It's a rare airline where 737 is senior to A320.

Not always, a lot of bases it’s pretty close. Thing with how United uses the bus it’s typically more legs to smaller towns, where 737 is further legs often to islands/ South America etc. Great choice to have. Flew the 737 for years, if I upgrade I’d like to do the bus for a change, but it’s much smaller fleet, so less pairing choices/ability to trade. And a final point for the 737 we are getting a lot more of them, some will be replacements but I think everyone agrees seniority progression resides on it

another bus vs 73 argument is (and this may depend on base), but I’ve heard the bus has far fewer commutable trips. Like, the 73 will have at least one end commutable, and the bus will have early start/late finish.

something to consider, and again, I’m just going off what others have told me. I haven’t studied the bid packages to verify.

True, but dont forget we are also going to be getting a lot of 321s soon and then XLRs after that so the bus certainly wont be stagnant.
