Thanks for proving my point. It’s also a pretty good personality indicator of how one deals with the mighty 737 😜

Looks like mando retirements start to rise from 2026-2031 timeframe (7400 mandos from today until then).

What barriers do you see for someone interested in joining UAL today? Articles I see don’t indicate any slow down due to known economic performance in the near term. I’d be bidding mid-pack due to my age and more interested in QOL and seniority than big WB money right away.
Predicting seniority progression in the long run is a fool’s errand.

But i don’t see anywhere else that has a compelling case they will beat United over 10-20 years. So i would reframe your question more as: “ will my current job or CJO x be better in 2035?”

Agreed, it's not that bad. It's a nice problem to discuss. Some people will never be happy unless it has a tray table for crew meals.

Now, you want a cold cockpit, noisy, miserable to be stuck in, how about a 727-100? No kidding, you had to turn up the instrument lights to warm up the cockpit in the winter....

I love the airplane and the 73 trips from EWR are unbeatable. The dumdums that have never even flown it can pee off. And since it’s rumored to be among the most difficult planes in the inventory here to land, if you cut your teeth on the 737 presumably you can probably fly anything else without much issue.

People complaining about the 737 must never have flown the CRJ or ERJ145. I’ve spent 6 years on the 737 and it was the great aircraft ever created when I got my first mainline paycheck 🫠 (because I finally made it to mainline and I didn’t care if I was flying a 172). It’s really not bad, and at United the flying and seniority progression overall is better

Yeah, I did 5000 hours in the E145 and 8000 in the B737. I don’t get the complaints. On the 756 I’m always telling my fo’s how the 737 does this or that better and they don’t believe me. The avionics and VNAV are much better than the 756. Plus, I miss the destinations.
With 700 airframes soon to be on property, good luck avoiding it.

to be more specific, IAD is pretty rare to get on day 1 of indoc, but it’s always in the vacancies. If you really want to get there quick, pick 737 or 320.
