What is the reason for so many 737 spots in IAH?

Is UAL growing IAH considerably or is something else at play?

It’s because IAH is one of the few places where people will bid captain. They’re taking captains where they can get them and building the flying where they have pilots, not necessarily where they’re actually needed.

What’s the latest number for hiring count next year? And the rest of this year for that matter.

Additionally, if a situation arises, are you able to defer a class date and for how long?

Theyve been saying 2000 a year for a while, we average around 50-60 a week, so say about 960 hired to date, around 1040 to go. Bear in mind there are proposals in legislature to increase retirement to 67 and also max / Airbus delays have occurred. How much that affects the numbers I don’t know.

im sure you could defer, are you anticipating something happening or is there another class date you’re after somewhere else?

Big picture. PAX loads have come back to slightly above pre-Covid. Constrains are number of pilots and delivery of new planes.

Believe it or not Boeing and Airbus and their suppliers, are constrained as well. They are trying to hire and train employees at very high rates. Their equipment and facilities to build them are also constraints.

Any info on 777 as NH and how long out of Initial would EWR or another East Coast base would be possible? I understand the ebs and flows with hiring trends, just want a ballpark.

Hard to say, but probably within a couple of vacancy bids.
