Thanks a lot for the replies!

Cheers

Seems like you might be happier at spirit .

Default Where's KDEN?

Any idea when KDEN will appear again on the drops? It's been absent for some time...

Ultimately not that meaningful since all of these guys can hold something different in the massive vacancy going on right now, if they want to

Whenever there are unfilled DEN vacancies after a bid closes.

My guess: it won’t

They need tons of FO’s to match the IAH captain buildup

Default Applying now

Just a few questions but

Does applying now put someone on the tail end of the hiring wave? (permanent reserve on the bus for years) Not sure how many ua has hired in the past year but kinda seems that way

Is the bus going away at united ? Would like to stay on that airplane

321's are on order and coming plus hiring is increasing with bigger classes in 2023. The wave is just building. Still heading towards 10000 new pilots by 2030. 2000+ or so hiring in 2022 based on what was said during the interview.

Q1. No one knows that answer for sure, but we have hired more in the last few years than others. Anything else is a guess.

Q2. Bus isn’t going away. We have neos coming next year. It is a smaller fleet, though. The movement is generally the same. Some bases you are better seniority-wise on the 737 and others on the 320. As far as being able to fly it, that will all depend on how old you are and how many are offered to your class. NB tend to go more senior than WB for the reasons covered a million times in this and other threads.

Your question seemingly boils down to: can I get on in 2023 and hold a line as a bus FO. The answer to that is 110% yes.

United has something like 14000 pilots. 5500 are slated to retire in the next 10 years. The hiring wave is not over.

That along with replacing the majority of our regional feed. I heard 2500 new hires next year barring the plague, war, apocalypse etc

Current snapshot has 160 unfilled Captain bids including a bunch of vacancies for IAH 737 CA. I imagine that the company has to either open more bases or figure out how to get people to bid Captain. Especially when we have unfilled 756 CA slots and over 100 777 FO’s just in SFO! Looks like a steady stream of SFO 777 FO for the new hire classes.

Right now anyone that finished probation can fly Captain in any base except LAS and MCO. Plus in 2023 when we are getting 2.5 new planes a week and 2024 when we are getting 3 planes a week it’s just going to be a mess trying to fill Captain seats.

We need a solution for this. A new contract would help for sure.
