I used a headset in the 757 all the time.

The guppy cockpit is actually more comfortable for you that the 757?

I agree the guppy has a much more advanced panel (at least the lower one you look at all the time).

The 757 is probably the best hand flying transport category jet that I’ve ever flown, but I’ve only flown the EMB-175, Guppy, 757/767, and 777. It’s certainly way more capable than a Guppy!!!

Me too.
Did the other pilot wear a headset, and communicate with you via intercom?

We never used the intercom, the other pilot sometimes wore a headset but usually used the ship set.

Default Bid drop

Please help a brother out,

My goal was an LAX base. I bid for the a320 after the 737's had run out instead of a 757 thinking that even though I didn't get LAX, I'd have a better chance of relocating down the road. I see the recent bid has no A320 slots in LAX. Do I have any chance of getting LAX by the time training is done? Did I shoot myself in the foot? My eventual goal is DEN

It’s unlikely since there is not currently a vacancy bid and the base trade window for Nov closed on the 17th.

Fuuuuuuuudge. Thank you.
Really wish they would not do bids on day 1 without any knowledge of base movement or seniority in base. Any chance someone can provide rough timeline of the bus into DEN vs the 757 into DEN?

While still in Indoc, I bid into a new base but I wasn't activated there until over two months on the line. So, you won't get into LAX for some time after completing training any way you look at it. (BTW, make sure you contact the IOE desk near the end of sim training and request IOE out of base. That gets your IOE done closer to home, a hotel, and positive space to IOE).

Even though there were no LAX 320 FO slots when the last vacancy bid opened, it closed with four unfilled spots due to backfills for guys bidding out. There were 14 unfilled on the LAX 756 too if that interests you. So, next time there is a bid odds are decent you would get into LAX (rumor has it the next bid will be in November). If the music doesn't stop, one or two bids further down the road and I'd think you'd be able to swing DEN 320. So, you might be based in DEN for summer 2022. DEN 756 would take a while longer, probably upwards of a year from now simply to bid it. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your insight! Gives me some reassurance
