Surprised I haven't heard anything about this yet. Did anyone else notice the price went down like 90% ?????

There have been a bunch of notes from the company and ALPA about this for the last few months. Better check to see they have your correct email.

I’d like to see the LTD benefit cap increase rather than the premium decrease.

Amen!

Delta has no cap and 32% B plan contribution. I believe SWA has a cap around $12,500. Ours caps at $8,000 with no B plan contribution.

Lower than projected utilization. Quicker recoveries and above projected investment returns are fueling this decrease.

They will likely find middle ground.

As for our cap, let your rep know that this is an improvement you desire in this contract cycle.

Absolutely agree....

And consider this.... you are forced to burn your sick bank and you accrue no vacation on LTD... now find the opportunity to return to work knowing you will have no vacation or sick time available ....
Not the best scenario for someone trying to recover from an injury or illness.

And if your fortunate enough to have had enough in your sick bank prior, you may qualify for a 7 hour monthly "rapid re accrual"

We do seem to be at the bottom rung on this.

A friend is now in his third year of LTD and will never come back ( cancer) His wife, who used to spend her days volunteering at various places, is now working 8-5 at an insurance company while they hope their vacation home sells . The airplane, hobby car, boat and the rest of the nice things a 55 year old airline captain acquires over time, is already gone.

After reading the contract comparison this was one of the most stark deficiencies in our current benefits package.

The cap is low, but isn’t it after-tax? Ie, you don’t pay any tax on it?

If so, that makes it worth close to 12k for most of us.
