You make it sound like SC pay comes directly out of schedulers pockets. Pretty sure they don't give a damn about SC pay, they just need bodies in seats.

Its a short call, I'm not working for free, just 90% sure im not going to get used. Get 5, then I dont have to worry about it and try to stack them at the end of the month when cs doesn't assign many and everyone starts agressive pickup at the end of the month, each base is different. 777 iah doesnt have many per day

3-C-1-b Reserve MPG
3-C-1-b-(1) A Reserve’s MPG, rounded to the nearest minute, shall be four hours,
three minutes and twenty seconds (4:03:20) for each reserve day.
3-C-1-b-(1)-(a) When a Reserve has two (2) unused Short Call and/or Field
Standby assignments in a Bid Period, his MPG shall increase by one (1) hour for
each of the next three (3) unused Short Call or Field Standby assignments. A
used Short Call assignment is one in which he is assigned to Field Standby
without an intervening Off-Duty Period or is assigned to a Trip scheduled to
depart within thirteen (13) hours of the time the Trip assignment is made. A
used Field Standby assignment is one in which he is given a Trip that is
scheduled to depart prior to an intervening Off-Duty Period.
3-C-1-b-(1)-(b) When a Reserve has five (5) unused Short Call and/or Field Standby
assignments in a Bid Period that were assigned to him (that is, not picked up), his
MPG shall increase by one (1) hour for each subsequent unused Short Call or Field
Standby assignment that is also assigned to him.

If you think you're going to APU 5 assignments then sit back and relax, the company now has five more they can give before you start getting paid again. i.e. you're their *****, for free.

I don't understand what part of the contract the company is now enforcing that was not previously being enforced????
The most SC's I ever had was 5 (UN USED). I recall getting 1 plus 1 plus 1 for a 3 hour bump in MPG. is that not being done?

Do we still get an hour of add pay for the third unused short call?

Yes, for the first 5 nothing has changed.
If you never APU, nothing has changed.
If you are assigned 5 SCs, you get 3 hours added to MPG, and every additional assigned SC increases your MPG - same as it ever was.
However if you APU any SCs after that, they are uncompensated.
If you APU five SCs, you get you get 3 hours added to MPG, but the next five assigned SCs are uncompensated. And either way if you APU any SCs above 5 they are uncompensated.

You sit at home and get five. No worries.
Its guys like me, who have to commute in to sit SC that will be affected first.
Senior commuters who may have accepted a long call reserve line may change their bidding strategy. All the SCs that local guys like you were getting will now be distributed more evenly. So my long call line is going to be peppered with SCs in a way I have no control over. If I have to travel to the hub every third day and just sit in a crash pad, that defeats the purpose of bidding reserve to stay home more.
So intentional line donation is going to be curtailed, which will negatively affect those below the g-line who want to hold any line. Actually, it will negatively affect every line holder junior to the commuter who used to bid reserve - with PBS running his bid above theirs the pool of available lines shrinks for everyone else. Especially the commutable lines.
And guys like you, who used to get most of the SCs and increased MPG are going to see smaller paychecks. With nobody APUing, (or those who haven't figured out the payroll effect, yet) SCs are going to be spread more evenly. Those who want them won't get as many, and those who don't will see more. The flip side of that is you will work more for a smaller paycheck. SC isn't work for you. But you won't be on SC as much, so when a trip comes open you will have a better chance of getting used. So instead of one trip every other month off SC you may work twice a month. Not enough to break MPG, but a lot more than you're doing now.
None of this is the end of the world. Its all as intended as the contract was written. But it is a change and it will effect people, generally in small ways that are not better.
