They are also not considered small narrow bodies. That's the only carve out that gives management the ability to get more RJs.

Word. Not that they wouldn't ask....

1-L-25 “New Small Narrowbody Aircraft” means a CS100, E190 or E195 aircraft, provided that such aircraft is neither in the Company Fleet as of the date of signing of this Agreement nor acquired through merger or acquisition of another air carrier.

BRIEF-United Continental Holdings files prospectus supplement related to offering of $400 million of its senior notes (UAL) | Markets Insider

I would be willing to wager this has to do with the acquisition of a number of used A319's or 20's on the horizon. With rumors floating around of a deal to sign for around 30 more from either a Chinese source or European LCC, the timing and amount of money to be drummed up seems appropriate. I am definitely no business guru, though.

6 used guppies will hit the market too, because of these orphaned A330's

Interesting analysis. Perhaps that’s the reason for the bond.

I wouldn’t bet on United moving to swoop in to buy them.
You must not have been at the LCA meeting last week when Kirby spoke about used Airbuses.

Borrowing by corporations serves to increase balance sheet leverage and thereby enhance ROE. Sometimes corporations use the money to buy back shares because they believe they can get a return greater on their own shares than the coupon, in this case 4.25% or sometimes they use the money for capital investments like airplanes. Let's hope it's the latter and not the former.

Really?! I suspect this didn't come across as you intended...are you saying an airline acquiring aircraft, either leased or purchased, has to also acquire the pilots that used to fly them? Have we offered the Chinese interviews?

I agree that they probably will ask. Our standard answer should be and had better be "pound sand"!!!
