Looks like it's fixed starting Nov...

from the MEC SSC -

"As a reserve, when you have a Short Call (SC) or Field Standby (FSB) assignment that goes unused, the United Pilot Agreement (UPA) section 3-C-1-b explains how your Minimum Pay Guarantee (MPG) may be increased.

In order to understand this UPA section and how unused SC/FSBs increase MPG, you need to read paragraphs 3-C-1-b-1-a and 3-C-1-b-1-b as separate events.

Up until now, due to IT limitations, the company's crew management system wasn't programmed to determine the difference between an assigned or picked up SC/FSB. It was treating all SC/FSBs as if they were assigned. This resulted in extra contractual overpayments to pilots on reserve.

Effective with the November bid period, the crew management system is programmed in compliance with UPA sections 3-C-1-b-1-a and 3-C-1-b-1-b. With this in mind, your pay expectations will change if you have been bidding reserve unaware of the issues outlined above and you routinely increased your MPG through unused SC and FSB assignments.

In November, the company will start calculating the reserve MPG bump in accordance with the UPA. This means, as a reserve, your SC/FSBs will not be treated as if they were all assigned so you may not be eligible for the paragraph (b) MPG increase if you choose to pick up reserve assignments."

cheers

This is definitely a bad deal for RSV commuters.

I live in base and always pick up short calls. 1. Gives me actual time off of being on call, a 1500 SC means I can be out of position and contact for a bit. 2. $$ Getting paid not to work is nice. Been called maybe twice? Out of probably 50 SCs 3. Keeps commuters from having to fly in to sit at ops and fly home (best case)...

Well, sshhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee It.

Time for some slow Lou Rawls and a jumbo tumbler of something brown. And maybe a revolver with one in the chamber.

I don't have to beg you to hold me
Cause somebody else will
You don't have to love me when I want it
Cause somebody else will

Your so called friends say you don't need it
When all the time they're trying to get it
Look out

Your good thing
Is about to come to an end
Your real good thing
Is about to come to an end

All those nights I watched the four walls
I did not have to watch them all alone
When other men said they wanted me
I didn't have to tell them I was your very own

You have all the love that I've got baby
Even ice melts to water and gets hot
Look out

Your good thing
Is about to come to an end
Your real good thing
Is about to end

Gettin' myself back together
Is gonna be a big problem I know
But when the right man says he wants me
You can bet I won't say no

Cause your real good thing
Is about to end
Your real, your good thing
Your good thing, baby

Your good thing
Your good thing
Is about to come to an end
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Your good thing
Your good thing
Your good thing, baby

I wonder if this will be enough incentive for the senior guys to quit bidding reserve...I’ve been forced into a line for 3 of 4 past months.

Hard to say, but with the low time lines it's still possible to make more on reserve for some guys. And, even if you're not getting as many hours added with the SC's, if you're close to the drome it can still be a somewhat leisurely existence, depending on BES vs schlepping back and forth to LHR.

My personal record for SC's is 13, plus a "Show no go". 2 hours for that as well. So 86 hours for flying 1 day. In the last 3 years I bid reserve a little under half the time. I probably averaged 79 or 80 hours.

The two hours of pay for showing goes to line value. So unless you broke guarantee, it doesn’t matter. Nice story, bro.

What? You mean there is some slight of hand (pay) in this contract with regard to reserves? You whiner.

"Say it ain't so Joe, say it ain't so!"

I don't really understand what this fixed glitch means. I am RSV , but don't tend to do too many SC , this month I am already at 4 . So whats this mean for this new fish .?

Does this mean there is a cap for un used SC regard going above MPG ?
