Well I can easily think of a couple... but being as they are a benefit to myself and some others I won't be spouting them off publicly.
Others have just recently been implemented much to my dismay, but were pushed to be corrected by our ALPA brothers/sisters. Such as picking up trips during a vacation month and getting paid the entire trip time vs now you might have to give away free hours. Or a couple years ago the extension pay, now only applies to a single leg for domestic (so pretty much never going to happen).
Both of those were in the favor of the pilot group pay wise, helped the company as well IF...again...IF the pilot decided to do such, no force applied.
All this yet we allow abrogation of seniority with VDO getting first dibs over SRM, junior reserves getting lines over senior reserves because the amount of trips that would be left over, senior line holders having trips taken away to complete a junior pilots line.

There are always disagreements in interpretation and application. If there wasn't we wouldn't have a grievance committee.

The vacation month trip pick up was not a delayed implementation as I recall. Wasn't that a grievance or interpretation that the company won on the intent of the language? It was paid as extra initially after the comtract was signed. Then we got the adjusted agreement and intent that it was to be applied in the current method.

Because it is extremely manpower negative. Not because of anything else. If you are on vacation, you should not be able to pick up trips.

If I want to fly I should get paid for it.
I pay union dues to protect my current job, not create future jobs.
ALPA's interests should be to serve its membership.

Instead of opining here, perhaps some of you ought to call your reps and find out the real reason why your union came out against picking up time on vacation. And, whose collective interests and pay they are working to protect.

Both ALPA and Howard put out a memo on the topic. It would probably be a good idea for you to read them both rather than post some story about how evil ALPA is at times.

The company wants you to pick up flying for free on vacation and lay the minority extra who know how to game the system. Of course, it's outside our contract.

By all means.... go ahead and pick up open time in a vacay month. Just don't PDR it when your pay stays the same.
It's amazing how many guys are ****ed at ALPA because what they think they know is completely wrong, yet won't take five seconds to talk to a rep and get the real story. (Even after ALPA has gone out of its way to communicate said facts in a multitude of different ways.)
100% false. You're part of the problem.
