Can't imagine why they closed the base in the first place

Exactly. The majority of former Den 757 left seaters that were bumped are out on the left coast flying the big iron for $$$. The majority of former Den 757 right seaters were able to s l i d e on into Den Guppy/Bus Cappy slots. I don't see the same players bidding back. I do expect to see some good movement on the Den Bus/Guppy, in both seats. Maybe even some Den 737 Cappy backfills! Can you imagine that??? Wow. Crazy talk.

Probably because they know all the TK instructors will be filling many of those seats.

I'm sure there will be supplemental bids from TK guys on it. But there are already plenty of TK guys who hold DEN Captains seats who have not activated those bids. The 756 is not a pay gain over the 737/320 or frankly over what an instructor makes. I don't see the DEN 756 emptying out TK in the slightest.

I would think that many of the current Widebody FO's in SFO/LAX/ORD that commute out of Denver will be looking at the 756 CAP seats back at home. With the lack of an incentive of a pay raise for any of the current DEN 737/320 Captains, I don't think many current DEN Captains would jump airplanes. So, I would think this will just be an opportunity for those that commute out of Denver to get back home.

True, although many would be taking a pay cut to do so.

Don't put it past United to dangle "Hawaii" before our eyes to get people to bid this thing only to find out that not much of it comes our way. The most exotic flying could end up just being non all nighters to the Garden State.

Exactly! EWR will do the Hawaii tags knowing this place since they already do some of the West Coast flying to the Islands.

Yep.They've done this numerous times before. Most recently on the last -400 displacement. They told everyone that SYD was going to be flown by the 773 probably in order to get more folks to displace to the 777. Well.....still planned to be flown by the 787.

Just a question... Are the I/E pilots paid on the blended rate? If so, then it does make sense because the blended rate is higher than any of the hourly rates other than the 764.
