As for the culture? Well, the pilots at Spirit are a great group of guys and gals with longstanding ALPA ties. Some of those ties might even sport a battle star
Great point!!!!!

You probably can't find a SINGLE PILOT at JB from COMAIR, World, Polar, Amrijet, leftovers from Eastern and maybe a Spirit guy or 2 that walked and may have left.

Meanwhile, we have........SCABS.....

Which I'm sure JB does also, but the point still stands.

A true statement that's proven true time and time again

I honestly don't think a merger is in the near future for United.. they'll find the planes from somewhere witjout merging. With the coming pilot shortage, the ULCCs won't be able to keep sufficient pilots on the property to keep the planes flying unless they GREATLY increase pay, benefits, and work rules. At that point, they'll cease to be ULCCs.

F9 pilots could get an industry leading contract and F9 would still have the lowest CASMs in the industry. You sound like management LOL

I agree that a merger is unlikely for a couple reasons:

1. Public opinion that too many recent mergers have reduced choice and increased airfares - the politicians (and DOJ) likely agree
2. Route overlap especially NYC area and LA/LGB
3. JB is currently profitable - there is no financial challenge driving consolidation to save jobs
4. United's recent PR problems will not endear it to the press

Obviously anything could happen but further consolidation in this industry when airlines are finally making solid profits seems likely to draw heavy criticism unless massive concessions are considered....

I can't believe, you guys have 15 pages of pure BS. Who cares. Do you just go around day dreaming about potential mergers?

Here, I heard from my dog that Omni Air is going to merge with UAL. That should be good for 3 pages.

Nobody gives a ******

While you are not in the JetBlue forum I have to say this is a BS comment.

"Since you asked....IMHO, UAL would mesh much better with a group wearing Battle Stars than a group that can't get a CBA and thinks cleaning airplanes is a positive attribute that brings something to the table."

I assume you worked here when you were furloughed from United.

You are just bashing a huge chunk of our group that is trying to get a CBA and fix things. I just see it as a disrespectful post and it's a little sad that some over here seem to have this attitude. Oddly discussions or opinions like yours never come up when a United guy is asking me for a ride to EWR. Amazingly they have a much more positive attitude about our pilot group.

as I said, both of which i consider small airlines. They're allowing that to provide a stronger competitor to the big 4

It's not bashing, it's disappointment.

I loved the recent email I received from ALPA with the photos from the recent JetBlue meeting/rally. It finally shows significant pilot engagement. Excellent.

But it's also 2017 and JB has been flying for nearly 18 years. There could have been a CBA 10 years ago or 5 years ago or 2 years ago. But it didn't happen and here we all are still talking about it. The next step will require some help from the government and the chess board changed on Jan 20th and the jury is still out.

It get why the motivated JB pilots are "sensitive" about the whole thing but yet that very quote of mine that you used included a link to a very recent post made by a JB pilot that perfectly summarizes why I very honestly answered the question the way I did.

You don't have to like or agree with the assessment but I can live with that and am more than happy to revise my opinion with new facts.

Good luck with the CBA. (Seriously.)

We just finished 8 years of a pro-union liberal Presidency, and people blame Trump for JB not having a pilot contract.

Three things didn't change under Obama and won't ever change for the Democrats, because if they do, the Democrats won't have anything left to champion.

1) Wage gap for women
2) Minority standard of living
3) Labor union influence
