As far as I can say, we aren't. We don't want a merger. We see no upside. Everyone I fly with says they hope we don't merge with a LCC or anyone else. I, for one, don't want a merger at all. Already have that block checked.

Overpriced implies paying more than they're worth.....I'd agree with "too expensive" though....
Bad fit route-wise? JB and United have almost no overlap....only concern is NY/NJ dominance....
And I'm curious how Spirit's "culture" fits better with United.....
I'm of the opinion neither will happen btw....just found your comment(s) curious, which is why I asked...

As I recall at the time the most likely was AA (which almost happened were it not for Doug Parker).

Since you asked....IMHO, UAL would mesh much better with a group wearing Battle Stars than a group that can't get a CBA and thinks cleaning airplanes is a positive attribute that brings something to the table.

The majority of JB pilots are some of the most professional aviators in the industry....any group would be lucky to be associated with them. Don't equate a small amount of juicers with the overwhelming amount of guys and girls employed at JB who are top notch individuals.
And just because someone hasn't been in combat, doesn't mean they aren't ready to go, and won't perform admirably.
Pilots are some of the dumbest SOBs on the planet...never seen a group of "adults" so eager to eat their own so willingly, and happily.

That would certainly be my first choice.
But it would also appear that **something** is up with the backtracking of the fleet plan and the recent revisions to pilot hiring that appear contrary to stated staffing requirements.
IMHO, the information vacuum combined with radically revised plans has only stoked the rumor mills. In my tenure more than one major corporate strategy shift was first signaled by such actions only to become official much later.
