I'm pretty sure he means taking over the leases or purchasing 319s Sprit doesn't want anymore. Lots of talk over here about merging with an LCC but none of it is really plausible. UA mgmt is being real cagey with future fleet and staffing plans fueling a bunch of these rumors. If we do merge with an LCC, I hope it's Spirit. Awesome bunch of guys and gals over there.

Bad fit route-wise? JB and United have almost no overlap....only concern is NY/NJ dominance....
And I'm curious how Spirit's "culture" fits better with United.....
I'm of the opinion neither will happen btw....just found your comment(s) curious, which is why I asked...

Overpriced implies paying more than they're worth.....I'd agree with "too expensive" though....

JFK/EWR overlap is huge and would require concessions.
As for the culture? Well, the pilots at Spirit are a great group of guys and gals with longstanding ALPA ties. Some of those ties might even sport a battle star

Spirit was going to return a bunch of airbus planes to a lessor, and replace them with new orders. United was going to get 40 of them over a few years. That fell through. I'm saying United still gets those planes, as Spirit sends them back to whoever is leasing them.
