Don't get to excited, APC is a heavy indexed site. Searchbots indexing the site count as a page view. I'd suggest that the post/view ratio is a much better metric of engagement.
I agree. I regret having used the word "embarrassed" and would go back and edit it if I could. I apologize to my fellow United pilots who read that. It wasn't right.

Bots? I suppose, but then you'd see similar numbers across all threads, and such is not the case so I'm thinking the view count is not primarily driven by bots. Certainly hope you're wrong for the sake of advertisers who pay good money for forum views.

For the record here is the "minutia":

THIS SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT, entered into as of June 15 , 2017, by and between THE BOEING COMPANY ( Boeing ) and UNITED
AIRLINES, INC. ( Customer );

WHEREAS, the parties hereto entered into Purchase Agreement No. 3776 dated July 12, 2012, as amended and supplemented ( Purchase Agreement ); relating to the purchase and sale of Boeing model 737 MAX aircraft ( Aircraft ).

This Supplemental Agreement is an amendment to the Purchase Agreement;

WHEREAS, Customer and Boeing agree to substitute the purchase of one hundred (100) Boeing Model 737-10 aircraft (737-10 Aircraft) for one hundred (100) specified 737-9 Aircraft;

WHEREAS, Customer and Boeing agree to incorporate certain additional Customer Aircraft *** into the Purchase Agreement;

Minutia? Maybe. Me personally, I don't think an order for new unnamed aircraft is "minutia". I think it's interesting.

We're focusing on the 225/5000 sector
United already has 2 planes in that "niche". Why would buy and operate a third?

My prediction, United will put Polaris seats in the 767-300's and fly them for another 20 years. Why not they save significant pilot costs paying only narrow body pay for wide body flying?

Could just as easily be a 777X order as the MOM

The 77X has been announced so there is no reason to redact the name and then redact the mission data. The mission data for the 777X has been defined.

Our first 767s came in the early 80's. By 2025 the 767-300s will be 40 years old. The 767-300s serve Europe. What plane can replace these? My title should have said "United is buying a 767 replacement from Boeing." The key here lies in the fact that the 787 is expensive technology designed for 8000 mile routes with low demand and the 777 serves long routes with high demand, but there is a gap around 5000 miles which is the transatlantic market, and it turns out that market is bigger than Boeing originally thought, and my guess is because of United's special relationship with Boeing, we will be the launch customer for the 797, but Boeing was not ready to announce when they signed the contract.

Most logical:
321NEOs to replace 757s
330s to replace 767s
777-300s to replace 350 orders

Ten years from now get some MOM etcs...

The oldest UA 767-300 was built in 1991.

I see you are right. I was working from memory and I guess the Airworthiness Certificate I was remembering was from a 767-200. Our current -300s are old, but not quite that old.
