Do job fairs really make a difference?

1000 perfect does . I worked as a recruiter for a number of years at certain Job fairs, and have had several several friends all get picked up from Job fairs . Plenty of people have gotten picked up without them sure , but I can promise if you aren't getting the call yet , it can't hurt.
They def help, understandably they suck , you gotta spend the money , the time, the suite etc. but if it gets you that call it would have been 1000 times worth it .

Talked to a check airman and someone who works directly under BK. He says they are going away from job fairs now and more towards their own personal recruiting events. I'm not entirely sure what those are but looks like job fairs dont hold as much weight as they used to. That being said, if I wasn't getting a call, It cant hurt your odds.

Guessing more along the lines of the ALPA FDD, Veteran events, and an in house like DAL did, etc.

This is dated as I was hired a decade ago, but I flat out go my call because of a job fair. Didn't have a single rec from anyone and just a boring average dude with 5000 and 2600 jet pic or so.
It certainly can't hurt.
And to address above regarding the in house job fairs rather than going to ones presented by OBAP, WIA, or whatever that air apps one is if it's still around... if the airline is offering an open house job fair I'd definitely attend that.
