How about when you arrive late to the plane, long ride to EWR from Manhattan. 15 minutes to push. Get everything spun up, winds in, go outside for walk around, and find the CA sitting there playing on his phone. Couldn't be bothered to do the Perf Init or anything. Then, when ready to push, he realizes he hasn't plugged in his headset.

I also have had mixed results With the ground crews being appropriately trained to avoid the engines during pushback (some waaaayyy too close) so I have no reason to believe they're doing a safe job in the receipt and shutdown process either. I never switched to the apu off arrival process.

While you've only had to wait a few moments for ground power, I found myself having to start the apu at the gate because it wasn't connected in a reasonable amount of time. All the while our first class passengers are deplaning and being serenaded by an idle thrust engine. An engine running on the ground with ramp workers all about.
San Fran can get warm and I hate passing a warm jet to the next crew. I've noticed numerous times where ramp plugged in power but not air.
Disgruntled pilots? I guess it's easier to make your point when you bash the guy without having walked in his shoes.

If ramp didnt plug in air, ask ops to have them plug in the air.
As far as walking in their shoes, I've met those who move on and those who remain victims. I grew up in a steel mill family. Some turned to the bars, others moved on.
Complaining usually is just easier I guess.

Apu ground ops (off/on) has changed back and forth 4 times in my 22+ years here. Each time the "reason" we went back to apu on was safety. Makes the decision pretty easy for me.

I should clarify. It was the warning chime. He just went nuts and tried to EMER cancel. Something about that chime. (Well, everything else in life seemed hard to him too)

I honestly don't care one way or another, but I pi$$ed question marks for a week after that one.

Since we are *****in': Am I the only one that thinks those hotel pens belong in the holders on the flight deck and not in my pocket?Jeez....they're "free" after all. Leave it for the next guy. Except in Geneva. Those pens are worth $$.

Speaking of head sets , flying for Airbus (flew it previous airline as well) why WHY WHY, don't we use a real head set with the hot Mike ?
I got my own Telex 850's but I still have to leave one ear off to hear the CA, which half the time I can't. I don't see why the company doesn't pony for a simple fleet head set like the 750's or equivilant .
The hot mike is great cause you can adjust the volume of the guy chewing next to you. How we do it here is truly awe full .
Did this start from another fleet ?

All valid points, but who's job is it to make policy? In the cases where you didn't get ground power in a reasonable amount of time, did you file any type of report? Most of the time all that is ever done is complaining to the other pilot. If there is a problem, fix it by changing policy. Right now the company either doesn't know there is a problem, or doesn't think it's worth fixing.

Regarding air, if the temperature is above 65 degrees, I'm not leaving the plane without some form of air conditioning on. I do not trust a radio call requesting them to turn on pc air and then walk off the plane. It's the giving a warm cabin to another crew issue that I will not violate.
File reports to change policy? I'm too busy wasting my time dealing with other company snafus to bang my head on a wall for policy change. I know your well intentioned in that regard and I'll leave it at that.
Sure, there are those who will never be satisfied under any circumstance. You and others seem too willing to lump a lot of pilots into this disgruntled category of yours. All I can say is for your sake, I hope history doesn't repeat itself. Those who took massive hits by this company witnessed many profit from it's perils. You call it disgruntled, I call it awareness.
