Here's one for 737 captains. Stowing the speed brakes as a way to disable autobrakes on rollout. I've seen guys do this routinely well over 100 knots. Literally the dumbest technique I've ever seen and a habit that can get you in trouble one day. Even at low speeds leaving the speed brakes deployed destroys lift which adds weight to the main wheels for braking performance.

The "dumbest technique" is a FM Normal Procedure. One that I use routinely on long runways. Especially since I HAVE to use autobrakes if available, according to that same FM. Been doing it for 20 years from both seats....but I'll be looking out for that trouble one day.

From the FM..."Release the autobrakes by smoothly applying manual brake pressure or by positioning the speedbrake lever in the down detent"

Just as an example if you suddenly need max braking from someone entering the runway you'll wish you hadn't pushed them down. Especially on a wet or contaminated runway. For a plane with a history of overruns and a wealth of accident data that highlights the importance of speed brakes to braking performance going beyond your 20 years I'm just surprised this is a thing here. To each their own, but it just seems like poor practice to me as a primary method to disabling autobrakes.

Better yet, unplug the minitel and hide it somewhere obscure, like at the bottom of the Jepps bag. Hide the headbands, except for the one that looks like it was stretched around a basketball.
