Just curious, what equipment and how big is the CLE base? 737 only? How many CAs and FOs each?

And if we close Guam, guess who's going to roll in and take it over...Delta. example: Seattle. Delta will take over Guam and make it work...cause that's what they do...and what does United do...put Delta in a good spot to take over what United has left.

LAX ends IAD-LHR-IAD goes to DCA crew
SFO ends IAD-CDG-IAD goes to DCA crew

SFO gets back all SFO-HND, SFO-KIX from IAH (IAH has been flying 1/3 of each destination)

Who gets DEN-NRT-DEN? LAX or SFO? most likely whoever is most overstaffed.......

What all this means for 787 staffing I can't even guess. I would imagine both LAX and SFO are somewhere between properly and over staffed. Displacements? Maybe? To many moving parts here.
SFO 777 gets HND back from the 787 this winter.

737 only. 80 each seat.

It is shrinking by attrition. FOs get in to keep the seats even but for every CA that bids out or retires there is no backfill. It will close in the next couple years.

Looking briefly at a few online sources, while restaurants in Guam are more expensive, that's not really an indicator of "cost of living" for residents. However, Bay Area housing costs appear to be far and well above anything in Guam.

Saying "if you want Guam, then bid it" is akin to those that say there shouldn't be anything in the contract to better help commuters: "if you don't want to commute, then move to a domicile".

Whatever... no dog in this fight. I just find it interesting that United's Guam gets paid so much to go there. If they got rid of it, people would still bid it, so it cost the pilot group as a whole "something" to have it.
It's not a COLA. It"s a Foreign Base Allowance (FBA). It's not solely intended to counter cost of living, it's also a means of mitigating all the inequities involved with living on the other freakin side of the world. Even if Bay Area housing costs really were higher (they're not) you still would have to deal with not being able to put any of your kids in public school unless you were OK with raising them as complete imbeciles. Monthly utility bills can run into 4 digits and gas and food are ludicrous. See if you think $3000 even comes close to fair compensation when you've been sweltering in your house for two weeks after a typhoon without power or water. Historically, GUM was a junior base and the FBA was also used to incentivize staffing. Obviously things have changed somewhat but keep in mind that the 5-hr min day was sacrificed there in exchange for the FBA.

Speaking of Guam - why was it not mentioned as a 777 destination?

If you are asking about the list on the vacancy announcement it's because those were 777-300 destinations.

Also I think GUM is considered Domestic

It probably includes the "island flip-over hazardous duty pay".

We Right now only have 9 of the 14 original 300er's ordered. The others are supposed to be ready for delivery, but still waiting on seats for completion.

We eventually will have a total of 18. Not 18-19, unless we order more. The last 4 announced at Paris, won't be delivered for a while, I think 3Q of 2018, so all this flying from the 747 will have to be supported 14 airframes, and only if the late planes are delivered soon.

I still say, with the announced flying, we don't have enough 300er's to support it. Asking for something to go wrong, then the dominoes fall and it falls apart. Just my personal prediction.

Some of the flim flam between the 777 and 787 has to be because of the shortage. They have time to train and have bids for more 777's because the planes are late.

As for Guam, it is an international destination for the 777, but flown basic, no augmentation. That included HNL-GUM and NRT-GUM. It's under 8 hrs. Also, if you didn't have some kind of COLA for Guam, there is no way you'd ever staff the guppy FO position. You'd still get CApts to bid, but it's be very junior.

And if desired, "a Pilot assigned to Guam who is in his first year of employment shall receive an eighteen (18) month Base freeze and be paid using the second-year pay rate..."

This, plus the $3000 is a pretty good deal for a probationary pilot.
