Did he pass along that the 400 base in ORD would close for 18 months then reopen? Did he tell you about the great plan to grow IAH 787 in winter '15 then redeploy the whole fleet to West Coast 6 months later? With such a stellar track record there is no reason to doubt they have a clear big picture plan indicated by your inside source.

My days are always bright. Of course these positions needed to be filled somehow. 30 Captains and no first officers? That means they either expect to staff the FO's by -400 folks bumping to the 777 right seat OR forcing folks there by bumping SFO 787. I'm expecting 787 west coast bumps.
In the next two years these BES's won't exist:
CLE
LAX 777
GUM
IAH 787

So the 67 will pick up all of IAH international, or is UAL going to cancel all international flying out of the 4th largest city in the US?

Nah W's with zero reserves backup to at least 3 daily long haul markets makes more sense. Just like it does to use int DH's and hotels to acclimate to cover entire Guam operation. These guys are geniuses.

So if GUM closes you think the company is just gonna be eating a ton of 7:45 DH's back and forth from HNL to position crews on both sides of every pairing? No way. There's no way they could get everyone where they need to be by starting and ending everyone via the hopper.
