The legal iPad preflight;
Battery charged.
No updates.
Current IOS
Current version of Jepp Pro
Current version of Content Locker
Current version of WSI
Your WSI isn't working because it probably hasn't been updated. Go to the UA App Store find WSI and hit the update button.
Jepp Pro, WSI and Content Locker need to be manually updated at times. They send out a bulliten telling how to do it when it is required.
iLog go to Content Locker, Content, iPad/EFB Help Guides, iPad line ops guide (iLOG)
To find the current approved versions of all the stuff mentioned above go to the UA App Store open it and at the top in the banner it says approved versions.
If it doesn't show up there it's because your browser history is overloaded. Go to settings, general, safari, clear history and website data. It will show up after you do that.
The approved versions maybir may not be what's installed in your iPad. That's why you have to check them occasionally.
The iLog explains how to do it. If you don't have any luck with the iLog send me a PM and I can run you through it.

As far as WSI, I think my account has been deleted.

I would love to ask our boss the following question.
HA, How many individual IT systems do we have, that if they fail, the whole operation stops?
I would bet he doesn't know the answer. I also bet it is a huge number.
For reference, I took a voluntary furlough and flew the bus for a couple of asian carriers. Both used the most basic "flight department in a box" that Airbus supplies. Paper manuals, PC based flight planning for dispatchers. Airbus will sell you a high tech version, but both carriers I worked for used the most basic. I believe Boeing offers similar products.
As far as I know, there was not a single IT system that if it failed, the whole airline would shut down.
We, and other legacy carriers, never had a plan to become the cluster#@$% of ancient IT systems that we are. It just happened. Going forward, we (and other legacy carriers) need to massively simplify and modernize.
Unfortunately it doesn't appear that our Flight OPS leadership even have a plan. Our IT department probably are not airline people, and don't understand what we need.
How many IT systems do we have, that if they fail, the whole airline shuts down?
In a perfect world, the answer would be zero. The second best answer is "as few as possible".

Well, now I know why in each CQDL we have cover "how to use iPad". To say we have not been trained on how to use it is just a lie.
Our pilot mobile app is probably the most integrated pilot tool in the airline industry. If it is not, tell us about the one that is? I would also say that our electronic logbook and the United App are pretty impressive and near the top of the industry.
Do we have issues, sure. Do we have room for improvement, absolutely.

I bet you preflight your car at the parking lot as well, in full uniform, with a hat on.
How's your Samsung S2 watch or iWatch software and firmware, all up to date?
Do you drive Tesla for $150K, claiming you save $$ on gas.
I bet you have a sticker over your iPads FaceTime camera, because "company is watching you", yet have no clue what MDM Profile is on your iPad, what it does, and how it works. You know a little, but not enough to understand the guts of all your toys.

I'm guessing that you're about 14 years old?
BTW
The MDM profile on all company iPads are managed by UAL. Sounds like you didn't know that?
