And that is another IT problem that is going to bite half of us. The IPAD nazis at United assume we are all APPLE geeks and having been playing with our iPhones and iPads for 7-9 years like they have. I ain't the bottom guy (for once) but half the pilots I fly with are somewhere around my level of IOS illiteracy. The other half can play Mozart on the thing. Some still use paper charts.

At some point somebody is going to figure out that half of us need some level of IOS proficiency.

Lol, I've been using Linux the last 20 years, so Apple is new to me as well. Gotten used to learning new ways to make things work with it in a M$oft.centered world.

Next up...How to use VNAV for an effortless star and approach.

LOL! I tried to log on to my AppleID (hadn't done so for a looong time; need to in order to reformat iPad in order to install/configure for new fleet) and wasn't able to get past security questions. Contacted Apple support to help.
Support: Are you logged on to an iMac?
Me: No, I'm logged on to a PC with Windows 10.
Support: OK, let's use your phone - it's connected to the internet, right?
Me: Yes, my Samsung S7 with Google Android has wifi...
Support: OK, we'll have to use the iPad for this workaround...

The company iPad is the only Apple product that I have. I don't plan on changing that.

Back to the original topic: IT is definitely improving but they're handicapped because jeffy's team opted to go with legacy IT after the merger rather than blow up both IT systems and go with a new, modern IT system. Tripping over dollars to save pennies. We need all of the legacy IT systems to be retired and at least get into the 1990s with a more modern IT system.

What's wrong with paper? I've asked on 2 different PC's now, how am I supposed to fly an approach, land and taxi right away with a device I can only display 1 thing at a time?

Crickets, like no one else has every had that thought, every time they land Cat3 and need SMIGS, or an unfamiliar airport. 1 hand on the tiller, the other coming out of reverse. Use my nose to swipe pages??

Every time I get out a paper STAR, I get really weird stares from the copilot! Star on the clip board, Approach open in the Jepps book on the bag, iPad on the airport diagram. Simple, until they try to remove paper again.

I have my iPad set to auto display taxi pages upon 80 knots. 90+ % of the time it pops up just fine showing me exactly where I am. That's one way. IF its so low vis that SMIGS is needed, Stopping the airplane upon exiting the runway and onto a taxiway is prudent. That's just what I do, YMMV.
