- where does United typically fly out of Guam and what are the schedules? What would I expect as a new hire?
Again, still very impacted by COVID restrictions. Pre-pandemic, it was was day turns to Japan, all nighters to Philippines & Micronesia, & the “Island Hopper”- multi stop flight to HNL with long layover, as either a 3 or 4 day trip. HNL was the only layover. The rest are out & back during the day & overnight, with the overnight trips going junior. Sometimes RSV would go senior to overnight line holders. Lots of time home if you live in base. GUM allows you to stack your days off so you can take them all in a single block. Allows for lots of flexibility for travel. (Once again, COVID.)
you forgot ROR. 3 and 4 day trips right up to Covid in March 2020. The 4 day was great for diving! I hope those come back.

How many 737’s are typically “Guam” bases?
Do they rotate them out from the mainland, via HNL from the west coast, etc? Any new or past destinations on the horizon post pandemic?
I remember when there was GUM-NAN and GUM-CNS? Any talk about those or expansions if Guam ever gets the MAX-9? Cheers.

Pre- COVID we had around 8. Not positive but I think we're down to around 4 now?

Yes.

Unfortunately, those were gone long before COVID came around. Going into the pandemic, our flying focused mainly on 2 markets: Japanese tourism & regional inter-island travel (I'm including the Philippines in that). COVID hit those schedules really hard, and we're still very much feeling that impact as Japan, FSM, & the Philippines are all essentially shut down to most travel.
The airline has been pretty aggressive in responding to market demand as it develops in 2021, so anything is possible; but as of yet we haven't had word from anyone suggesting new/returning markets. We've still got a large percentage of the base on reserve, so to me the fact that they are filling vacancies into Guam at least suggests that they want to be ready to respond quickly to regional demand- even if there isn't enough presently to justify the base staffing.

Only wishful speculation by the pilots...

Historically, any wide body needs for Guam have been staffed by trips from the mainland….SFO or ORD.

Does anyone have experience bringing dogs with them on their move to GUM? I understand the rabies vaccination/quarantine process is quite cumbersome, but what are the options for getting them out there? My dog would probably need an emotional support emu to spend 15 hours in the cargo hold
