Guam Based Pilots

yes… make it crystal clear prior to/during day one of Indoc that your interested in GUM. You get 2nd year pay and the 3K/month. Even if not available when you start you can always get a lateral on a vacancy bid to GUM… so if that’s your goal bid 737 anywhere you can hold it.

I know this may seem like an odd question but humor me.
Could a non-GUM based 737 pilot (for example a ORD-737) pick up a trip in GUM from open-time? Are there ever even open-time trips in GUM or is there enough crew coverage to prevent open-time?
I know it would be a long commute but if someone just wanted to test it out and see what it was like before bidding for GUM could they?
Do mainland 737 reserves ever get DH'd out to cover flying in GUM?

Non GUM base trip pick ups.
GUM based pilots are prohibited from picking up trips from any other base or flying trips in the mainland. Recently there were trips that went HNL to SFO or LAX but never continued into the states. Also, non GUM based pilots can not pick up GUM trips. You could bid the 777 out of SFO and get trips that pass through GUM to HKG or take the plane to China and deadhead to GUM to get a feel for the island. With a new contract presumably coming soon this limitation could possibly change but it's unlikely.
