Also true, but see below;
Sorry, commuting on UAL 17 years, I've seen UAL crews show up late and people get bought off/pulled off. They just didn't go Dinky Dao.

UALs move to outsource customer service and ground handling to outside companies has been a disaster, to put it kindly. But the Dinky Dao episode has nothing to do with this because it was mainline employees that ran the show.

Um wrong. Republic, like every other regional out there is a Fee for Departure carrier. Than means UAL buys all of the seats and controls inventory and sales. Republic can't do squat when it comes to reservations without UALs permission. They can't overbook the flight without getting permission from UAL yield management. Thanks to these agreements, regional airlines have ZERO control over reservations and the back end. It is all up to UAL.

UAL has nothing to do with how they staff/schedule their crews. The dead headers came over from an earlier cancelled flight (which had been rolling for some time) and weren't rebooked onto Dinkys bird until the last second. They knew the problem was coming and did nothing to get ahead of it.
If that was a mainline flight that Doa was on and the same republic crew would've showed up last minute, same thing would've happened.

No what was the fault of the airline was the decision not to keep upping the ante until they were able to get volunteers. UALs limits on what agents could offer for compensation was ridiculously low.

Also, once again, Republic (or any other regional) cannot override the system and overbook a flight without the permission of UAL yield management. They own the seat inventory, not Republic. Regional airlines got rid of customer service, ground handling, ticketing, and yield management a long time ago when the industry went from revenue sharing to fee for departure. Regionals aren't really airlines any more. All they provide are planes and crews. Everything else has been taken over by and is the responsibility of mainline.
I understand you have a weed up your @ss about regional airlines. But your ire needs to be directed at the Willis Tower, not Republic.
