ALPA tie
This is a tedious question but is the ALPA tie an approved tie? I just got one of the free ones they were sending out but in the FOM it says only Christmas ties and pink ties. I just would find it odd if they offered us these and we aren't allowed to wear them.

Try this, put on your 5+ year old legacy uniform resplendent with all the accompanying brass and wings. Yes we still have some of these time warped folks wandering the halls attempting to relive the days of old that weren't really that good to begin with.
Of course I always politely greet them with a doubled over, appropriately loud chuckle followed by an often un-returned high-five.
On probation, don't where it, off who cares and go ahead. Quite frankly you could wear it while on probation and simply point to the cretins I mentioned above, but why bother.

Short answer, no the ALPA tie is not approved. I have been wearing mine for a couple of years.
Was also threatened with a letter of council for not wearing the company approved tie, by the SFO assistant chief pilot. Amounted to harassment during contract talks. Went no where. Wear it if you like and are not on probation.
