It's got such a low operating cost and in our current contract it pays less than the CS300/700s/319 so I think its a win for everyone.
Maybe I'm confused. Making $40/hour or so less than Deltas book rates on this airframe is a win for who?

Yeah the pay sucks but you gotta start somewhere. If we brought 76 seat jets in house the pay would suck worse. The good news is you don't ever have to fly it.

Not getting an airplane because the pay rate sucks is what got us into the regional mess in the first place.

Bingo.

I'll fly it. Sure the pay rate sucks comparatively, but it's still a $30k/year raise for a bus/gup FO who decides to bid captain. We can work on the pay rates later but it's not a reason to not get them.

Great plan till they start parking the guppies and Airbi; low flying jobs for all; then all those great captain jobs that new hires are coveting in the CS will be filled with captains getting bumped off the parked guppies, the new guys will get bumped from right seat guppy to right seat CS; net result, the bottom half of the seniority list takes a paycut. But, on the positive side, they'll be flying shiny new narrow bodies.

But what if the world ends? I'll never make Captain if we don't get a 100 seater.

I love the what if game. In the end we're all ****ed.

Do you honestly think they are going to park all the 737s and 320s and fly ONLY 100 seat aircraft?? The CS300 pays the same as the 737-7 and A319.

This EXACT question was asked at the 2012 IAH TA roadshow by a scab Captain when the 100-seat-jet payrates were put out. The answer is that there is nothing in the contract that says the company can't park every airplane we have and just buy 100 seat jets and become a regional. And guess what, since the contract, they haven't done it. Because it makes economic sense to fly 130+ seat jets instead of 100 seat ones.

Please take your extreme negativity elsewhere.

Reading the last two replies scares me. You two are relatively new and this is how you feel? You'll accept lower pay just so you can scoot up to the left seat of a shiny new aircraft?

Defending the profession is about to come to a grinding halt.

Similar to the quote I heard when they introduced the 50 seater RJ at CAL way back when. "Don't worry, these are just market-starting A/C that will go back to mainline someday when we shore the market up". Look how that turned out.

Why not hold the scope, insist on SNB pay rates for anything above 76 seats and call it a day? They cannot bring these things onboard with out our permission and if we all stick together, they won't unless its on our terms !!

They can bring 'these things' on any time they want. We have an agreed pay scale. SNB rates will not be happen until new JCBA.
