How does that happen?
PS0 bookings does not affect your standby travel. Why your title of this post is a "PS authority scam" if you don't know how system works? Do some research before you blow a gasket on public forum.

Pretty much.

But summer 2011-2012, for ORD at least, if you called scheduling and told them you couldn't make it, they'd PS you.

Which was funny, all the mainline employees on BP8 passes aren't gonna make it, and the RJ trash is now getting PS'd to work. Al beit, that was a long time ago, and I'm sure UAL was charging XJT a premium for that.

There have been 2 times in the last year (before Dao) that I called CS in accordance with the commuter policy, just advising that I was going to use my second option.... And they put me on a positive space ticket on that second option.

I didn't ask for it, they just said hang on, then gave me a PNR.

Actaully, I bet UA doesn't have any way to differentiate the type of DHs that UAX does and so UAX reports them all as UA paid. So, they have no issue whatsoever with giving a commuter positive space. As soon as this had an actual cost to the UAX carrier it would stop!!!!

Currently, sure.

But at that time, that was far from the case.

Hence me using the term "was" that you highlighted in red

Got an answer.
These were flight attendants in training, according to employees res, which is the reason for the future hire date. I guess their supervisor authorizes PS0B for travel home on days off. They could be returning home after interviews.
They did not show up on the crew list.

interesting... FAs in training get higher priority than pilots in training (PS5)... still does not make sense... PS0 is crew movement from what i've seen... so unless they were coming back from a training flight they should be in the PS5 category.

Now that there is the answer to WHO these PS0 riders are...

FAs in training are required to do line observation/working flights prior to graduation. They will "assist" the working crew at times during portions of their service. In order to do that they are PS0 not PS5 as they will almost always be an out-and-back flight...not overnight.

They are probably doing their observation/training flight.

I don't know, still appears fishey to me - if I were you, I'd spend a little more time investigating the issue.
