A True Gentleman
I had the privilege of flying with Capt. Prater on several occasions and he was always a true professional. I wish him the best in his retirement. Being a newbie at CAL at the time of the IACP, I appreciate John taking the time to answer my questions and to fill in the blanks of recent CAL history, warts and all.
Leading a pilot group as diverse as CAL took real talent and the ability to focus on the big picture while not overlooking details.
Congrats on a job well done.

I'm still trying to understand why you took a leave of absence at United to go to work at CAL. Did you think you'd really find yourself senior to any United pilot during seniority integration. It's almost laughable........ but understandable considering your lack of knowledge of United History. Lazy maybe.

Still steamed that you'll always be junior to every 570.

I had a dispatcher on the JS a year ago. He was telling some stories about a number of 400 and 777 Captains, and the shenanigans they pulled, to the detriment to our passengers and the companies operation. The same guys, over and over. I explained to him about the 570, and told him to check their hire dates.
He emailed me a few days later. Care to guess when they were hired?

I took a VF in 2008 from United so that I wouldn't have to get bumped and fly with scabs and 570 again. Luckily, since my return, I will never have to fly with one again.

To the best of my knowledge dates of hire were never on any dispatch release and if a dispatcher got it from a duty flight manager that would have been a breach setting off several administrative actions. You've told this story before and was debunked on this very forum.
Be honest and apologize to the 570 and Tracy Ace Pilot Group both of which you tried to defame for you personal gain on this forum.
