I'm all about a higher accrual. But I'm NOT interested in wiping out my 100s of hours of sl for a renewed annually system like Dal. No thanks.

I still have not gotten myself back up to my sick bank level due to a sick call 2 years ago on a 37 hr 6 day W.

Unacceptable.

And therein lies the problem.

The LUAL pilots seem to have a large sick bank, and they use it too..
The LCAL guys seem to have less, and they don't use it and sometimes give back many many hours..

DYK that returning military pilots that were LUAL accrued sick leave while on Military Leave of Absence while the LCAL did not?!
Good for them, but it just adds to the mix.

The Union Leadership is currently (still) made up of LUAL pilots. LUAL pilots have a nice chunk of change in their sick bank.
Unless the company is willing to give them some sort of monetary compensation for their sick leave bank, no way that the sick leave will change any time soon.... and I don't see the company giving a straight payout when there are still pilots who are retiring with HOURS in their sick bank.

It will take a shift in the Pilot Group status (once PMNH [Post Merger New Hire] outnumber Legacy Pilots) to result in a change.
I would love to see us go to something that Delta has.. but I'm a realist and don't see that happening.
But what about increasing the accrual rate? As stated earlier, a single sick call event can wipe out half a year of SL! A surgery and you can see your sick bank get close to zero!

A solution should be found. Maybe a tiered approach since a drastic change most likely will never happen.
Have an idea but won't post it here as someone will scream 'Negotiating in Public! LOL

Stay Healthy~
Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Default Sick Leave Audit

There also a contingent at Cal that had a bunch OT occupational Time converted into sick bank hours. I don't fully understand how that time was designed to be used but some guys suddenly found themselves with an extra 2-300 hrs of additional sick time. Those guys probably won't want to go to a revolving DAL system either.

If someone could clarify that further for me please chime in.

220-240? Per year. I may not be exactly right. I like it. And I don't work there.

It maxed out at 300 and was only used in the case of an OJI. When it was converted to sick time it was either 1 for 2, or 1 for 3- I can't remember. So a guy who had 300 hours of OJI bank got either 100 or 150 hours added to his regular sick bank.

270 year. Resets every year. Don't need a sick note until 100 hours.

Under a previous CAL contract, if you were fortunate enough to have stayed healthy and hadn't "flex" days off to self adjust, you could take half your bank with you when retiring to pay Med insurance premiums.

Now it goes back to the company.
