Default United Signs 65 CRJ-200 CPA With AWAC

United announced a new 5 year CPA with AWAC for 65 CRJ-200's operating out of ORD and IAD.

Does anyone have United's current fleet plan. I'm looking for how many regional jets (50/70/76 seaters) currently operate for UAX. I'm also looking for what scope maximums are. I wonder if these 65 CRJ-200's will be growth, or if they will come at the expense of another operator.

It appears they are replacing another carrier. Interesting a couple weeks ago U-ALPA declared Air Wisconsin a distress carrier and now this. I have to wonder if this is the beginning of trying to staple a regional to the bottom of our list.

So while everyone else gets rid of 50 seat RJs, we're adding them. Great News.

Not thrilled about them either, but Kirby's blastmail talks about "competing aggressively " in the domestic market. Sounds to me like we might be getting some mainline aircraft.....new small narrow body...maybe?

Agree in some ways. The rose colored glass outlook is that Kirby is saying that RJ's belong in RJ markets. CAL's network people were the dopes that thought RJ's were good anywhere cause the airplane fills up. Hence why we were running 8 RJ's against Delta on EWR-ATL. At least Kirby is saying that is wrong. IF and big IF they are going to use these things as Kirby claims and move mainline back where it was, it's not a bad result.
