United IT should be embarassed

Well, my WSI and company email haven't worked on the IPAD for over a year. My latest is the new platform for the ULN has no lessons. I clicked every link in the page multiple times to try to get to a place where I could add lessons, but nothing. CCS on a computer and IPAD.
My new solution to IT issues is to do nothing. We don't get paid to fix them. I wait until a deadline, and let them catch it. That way, it makes it fairly far up the food chain. If we all did this, our leadership would start getting really tired of dealing with IT issues, instead of us.

If you don't want to use the email app on the iPad you can log in to your email from any web browser using mail.united.com

When you change your flying together password your email password changes to your new password. You have to go to settings on the iPad and change your email password there to use the iPad email function. Change the incoming and outgoing server password to whatever you have chosen.

1. Why in the world are you using UAL E-mail?
2. Why are you using the company owned/monitored iPad for E-mail?
I've had exactly the same experience. If it is such a hassle, why do it? Just same yourself the aggravation, and don't. If they want us to use it, it will get fixed.

My questions would be,
1. Why in the world are you using UAL E-mail?
2. Why are you using the company owned/monitored iPad for E-mail?

It also comes in handy if another employee wants to contact you (lost item, scheduling coordination, etc) they can look up the email in Flying Together and get in contact with you. I understand that buying another tablet for personal use is expensive, ipads more so, but it amazes me how many folks use their company ipad for everything they do online, including personal and private.
Along the same lines, I think the use of the company ipad as a hotspot for your other devices may have similar privacy concerns.

Many UA departments will only respond to UA email addresses for security reasons. I highly suspect if we were not provided email addresses it would be an outrage to those that currently complain about using the company email. Also if iPads and ship sets went away the tears would flow like a river.
I use mine for company purposes only. It is a resource that is provided. If you don't want to use it that's your choice. But to deride those that do is inane.

I have a personal iPad but I leave it at home. It weighs about a half pound and that's too much extra to carry. Also, I'd rather not get it stolen or lost. So, I'm forced to use the company iPad for personal stuff and company related. Call me wreckless but I could care less if the company sees what I do. I am not doing anything wrong or against company policy.

you are not 'forced to use the company iPad for personal stuff'.. you choose to do so because you feel that carrying an 8-14 oz personal IPad is to much for you~
Still amazes me to see some pilots doing things with their Company Issued Ipads that are questionable.
Will it ever become an issue? Probably not.
It will only be an issue if/when you have an incident/accident and the company and NTSB take your Company Issued Ipad to look at it.
As far as a company email, again.. it has its purpose and usefulness.
For those small percentage of pilots that don't want to use it.. enjoy~
As far as United IT is concerned.. yes, there is a continuing problem. Who really knows how deep the problem is? I expect any big company is going to have IT issues. Hell, Apple has issues! lol
But some of these issues should have been resolved by now.
Anyone else find it 'interesting' that the first month where they change the line range value on PBS, we have a meltdown? hhmmm.

OK I don't really get it?
UAL (and probably all companies in the USA) provides an email account to help with COMPANY business and help us surfs not have to use our own personal accounts. Why then would I use UAL's email account for MY personal business.
UAL (and many other companies in the USA) provide the iPad to accomplish COMPANY business so I won't have to use my personal device for it. So why would I want to mix my personal with the COMPANY business?
One item many seem to forget is FAR 121 requires UAL to provide up to date manuals and charts to fly their airplanes. The iPad is capable of doing this and is capable of sending and receiving UAL emails.
Why dfoes this seem so confusing?
If an individual wants to mix personal and COMPANY business on the COMPANY provide email and iPad it really is THEIR PERSONAL business!
I use my personal email accounts and iPad for my personal business and not UAL's. Others can do what they want!

The only thing on my iPad is check ins for Jetblue (and sometimes spirit) to get to and from work. I hope they monitor my activity- so that the next time I don't make it to to a trip that won't have to ask why.
