Honestly, I think commuting on Southwest is better than doing anything into Chicago.

FWIW, there's a lot of commuters between CMH and IAD. In addition, many DAY commuters use CMH as a back-up when DAY-IAD cancels...a frequent occurrence in the winter months 2013-14.

So what do you typically see for load factors on those flights? Jumpseats are often/not often being used?

ORD is the easiest commute out of CVG. Fewer flights to STL and IAD always full or oversold. Between AA and UA there are many more flights to ORD, plus you have SWA in MDW.

There are also non stops from CID/MLI to Denver too. You can always run through minny on delta as well and then you have a ton of options.

What CBreezy said is valid.
I'm not at TSA anymore and not part of the UAL system, so I can't answer what the current conditions seem to be.

Thanks for all the responses guys, it really helps. Making a pros/cons list of airline options right now. Thoughts / reality check on what I have so far for TSA would be appreciated:
• $10,000 signing bonus.
• Junior captain: 2014 hire.
• First three years pay: $105,840 (90 hours/month at FO rates).
• 100% cancellation pay.
• Significant planned growth: 600 pilots to 1200. Currently understaffed.
• Getting the MRJ – 50 firm orders with 50 options.
• Most junior bases STL and IAD. STL early morning / late evening 1 hour flight time commute with Southwest. IAD 1 hour FT commute flexible throughout the day, but oversold. ORD 1 hour FT commute flexible time of day, typically senior.
• DEN non-stop commute flight from CMH (3 hr FT) as well as CID (2 hr FT)
