Right. So someone logical would do the following when they see this:
1) Tell the FA that she is good to close.
2) if she leaves the door and tells the ramp to pull, stop the ramp.
3) tell the FA that they can't pull the bridge until she's ready to close the door.
4) tell the gate agent that they cant close the door until the FA authorizes.
Or
Do what you do and complain while requesting MORE common sense regulations.
Solution
Quit being a whiny idiot and be a Captain or bid FO so someone else can take responsibility

Some Feds will let it roll as long as the aircraft isn't pushed with the cabin unsecured. Some anal Feds will light the company up if that door is shut with an unsecure cabin.

Keep in mind if you instruct the FA to shut the door before the cabin is secure then the Feds will come after you when the crap hits the fan. The gate agents should NEVER pull the gate with the door open unless its an aircraft with stairs. If they do, then any problems are on them. The FA is not supposed to shut the door until the cabin in secure. That is an FAA thing and its not airline specific. In reality many FAs will shut the door to get the on time and then go back and make sure the cabin is secure before closing the cockpit door and telling the crew the aircraft is ready for push. But if an anal Fed is onboard they can get into trouble. Some FAs are more anal than others and will follow the manual to the letter. If the gate cuts off at 10 prior like they are supposed to, and gets the numbers to the FA in order to shut the door at five prior there should be no problem, no matter how anal the FA is. However it seems like these agents are always wanting run things to the last minute, and the FA is put into a difficult position of shutting the door before the cabin is secure. Best advice is to note when the agent gives the final count, and if it is inside of 10 minutes then note it on the delay mask. I'd be careful about getting on the FA to shut the door to get the ontime if she isn't ready. If a Fed is onboard it could get costly.

You're right. You're like the 4th person besides me who's said they see the same thing, yet these idiots insist it's something that only happens to me because I'm not Captain America enough. But yeah, when I read the horse$hit that comes out of Mav's mouth, all I need to think about is his reputation and the amount of times he's been fired throughout his aviation career before coming to TSA, and what he's done to earn the awful reputation he currently holds now at this company. It takes a special person to be hated that much.

I've never seen this. Once we get the good to close, they close the door. If they haven't completed their final walk through then the jet bridge stays attached until they close the door. The FA should not be allowing them to pull the bridge until she is ready to close the door. Tell them that exactly. You're the captain. Act like it.
Be the Captain...or b!!tch on a message board about it.

Yeah this bugs the heck out of me too. After everyone is sitting down ready to go, and they hand you the count where everyone is sitting, that's when they should close the door. But no, they go back and have chit chats with passengers meanwhile our departure time passes us by, the gate agents and ground crew are like *** is going on, not to mention having the plane sit there with the door open with no jetway is a major safety hazard. That policy needs to change.

Sounds like you have no idea how our FAs operate with their flows. I don't blame you tho because I'm sure nobody bothered to explain you how it works. When they give you the count, they don't go back there to chit chat, they are doing the exit row briefing. Assuming the automated briefing has finished, which if they're new or slow cuz of late boarding, it hasn't, they have to wait for it to be over. When we say we are good, then they have to tell people to put away the PEDs to make sure the large devices are stowed in airplane mode. Then yes, you guessed it, they have to go back again and check that they have complied. Then they shut the door. Back when you couldn't have devices on a year or two ago they just shut the door bevause the turning off of the devices was already briefed before. Now people can have it on so it added this stupid step where it can delay us if we have slow or new FAs. Never tell the FA how to do her job, if you don't like it, take to their supervisors or your CP. I think it's an FAA thing tho, they probably won't change it.

I think it basically comes down to new FA's being slow, which is understandable because they're new. And as It has been pointed out, that's how they were trained. I find that most of the Dulles FA's that have been here for at least 2 years are on point and have everything done in a timely manner. We never seem to be waiting on them.

Once the final comes they can start playing their announcements, do the count, brief the exit row, and secure in one shot. If he/she is overwhelmed because they are running back and forth let them know what to do.
Apparently "Captain America" over here was never new, or slow, or did not know any shortcuts. So let's resort to throwing crap at your new FA's on a message board. Stick up for your crew first a hole.
