Since TSA is not publicly traded that information is not avaialble. However I think they said that the contracts are for "at least" 5 years. Trans States is all 50 seats but that is actually their goal. They want to fill the niche market 50 seaters will always be needed for. Even as United gets rid of a large portion my guess is that TSA will continue to fly the 50s. They actually still make money on them.

United Airlines expects another record profit in 2nd quarter - Chicago Tribune
Article from yesterday's Chicago Tribune. In it, United states that it will expedite the retirement of it's 50 seat regional fleet.
How do you guys think this will affect TSA? Doesn't sound great for a 50 seat operation whose primary contract is with United.
I'm currently deciding between AWAC and TSA..... Still waiting on a new AWAC contract. Was leaning towards TSA, but should I be concerned wit this article?

United also announced an update to its fleet plan that furthers its goal of using larger jets and reducing use of 50-seat regional aircraft, which customers don't like and are less profitable.
It plans to remove more than 130 of the small regional jets from its schedule by the end of the year and more next year as aircraft leases expire, it said.
Maybe TSA will be the only place that flies the 50 seat bird for United in the future. That would satisfy their claim of reducing the use of them. Who owns the 50 seat aircraft at TSA? Or- who holds the leases? It plans to remove more than 130 of the small regional jets from its schedule by the end of the year and more next year as aircraft leases expire, it said.
As pilots start to disappear at the regional level, it only makes sense to utilize them on larger aircraft.

I just got back from the Transstates interview. I have 121 experience. Of the 28 A/C they currently operate, 15 are owned by Transstates, not sure about the other 13. The new contracts with The 15 American and 36 United are good for 7 years. Transstates is the only company that is making money with the 145 that's why United and American are going to them. They are not going to park airplanes that they own. They also are expecting more 145s and 175s. This is an exciting time to be in the industry and right now and Transstates is where the growth is. If you want to fly 90hrs + and upgrade quickly this is a no brainer.
