Is your math broken?

Pilots on property:450
Captains required by January 600.

How does that end cqfo? Lowering the total time limit 500 hours will reduce the amount of Captains required by January?

Exactly. We are not even close to having enough pilots to staff all this upcoming flying. And attrition is just starting to hit us. People are starting to get picked up by mainline (and UPS). The future will be interesting, but we will be hiring as many pilots (including CQFO's) as we can.

Yes, my math might be off. The way I see it, CQs would have been able to upgrade later this year if upgrade mins stayed the same, but if they lower it by 1000 hrs for the current guys, that pushes it back to next year at the earliest. Am I way off?

I understand in the grand scheme of things it's FOs that matter, because if they can't get them, it doesn't matter how many CAs there are...

Yeah, assuming they did lower insurance mins to 2500, I'm not sure why they would need more CQFOs? I would think between the CQFOs already on property, and the ones already hired into upcoming classes, and the FOs already in the pipeline, I would think they should be good on captains.

Now they need to work on incentives to get FOs in the door...
If this is true then it is a pretty big incentive. You will be a captain within a year and a half assuming you came in with just 1500. Tsa could become a revolving door the next few years with new guys getting their time and bailing quick to the majors. It could be win win for pilots and the management who want guys on year 2 or 3 pay at the most. But will lowering mins be enough?

The point is, anyone currently on property would be able to hold Captain by 200 numbers by the time the growth stops. I don't think anyone's upgrade opportunities are hurt.

I'm hoping this question doesn't sound too stupid, does the 3000hr requirement need to be all fixed wing? I only have about 1000 fixed but am ass heavy with helo time. Can any be included? Thank you

He's hanging out with the rest of my class in my room. I'll punch him in the nuts real quick and we'll all move on.
