Good question, but what prevents any company from doing this? How many people went into their field of choice, only to find out it has changed? I think all you can do is write it down on a contract.

The agreement the company has made with the union that is just as binding as the pay rates in the contract.

So is this in a MOU or LOA?

So is the plan to just use CQFOs in the left seat at a discount rate and not upgrade those on property?! Really slowing down the upgrades it seems like. When does this 60 day override deal kick in? When the first CQFO finishes IOE?

As someone who is considering applying for the cqfo program, does the 15-3 ratio posted on the previous page raise some serious concerns as to where they will find first officers?

From the day a CQFO is hired after a bid is submitted. No its a way to get enough upgradeable guys on property. The company is not intersted in paying FOs CA rates for long.

So hypothetically you submitted a bid Dec 1 and a CQFO class started Dec 3 so the pay would be eligible Feb 3?

You'd be lucky if that happens. Senior FO schedules on captain pay!

No. Now listen really carefully. The CQFO will get paid Captain rates while flying in the left seat. He will get paid a blended rate ($43/hr) when flying in the right seat. Any FO that is qualified to upgrade will, after 60 days of being eligible and whIle there is a CQFO on property, will be paid the Captain rate at the appropriate longevity. After 180 days, you have to be put into an upgrade class as long as there is a CQFO on the list.

You can get this by reading the contract or contacting your union representative instead of throwing a fit in a message board.

I don't know if it's slowing down upgrades. There are some odd 50 Captains in training?

We have been incredibly overstaffed on first officers since this summer. The priority is Captains this winter. I'm sure FO hiring will pick up when the CQFO hiring slows.
