Yes, you will need your flight case. They still haven't handed out the iPads yet and you will have 6 months of carrying the Jepps and the iPad. I also suggest you bring a lunch box in order to save money while in training. Training pay is rough.

I don't see that anywhere. I think people are more surprised about how many people don't want to fly except 7 seconds a day.

Hello,

I am starting class on the 2nd and would like to get some info.

Who is the health insurance provider and cost for Employee + 1?

Who is the dental insurance provider and cost for Employee + 1?

Who is the vision insurance provider and cost for Employee + 1?

What is the cost for UAL non-rev benefits for the year?

Do you and your spouse pay per flight segment or is domestic no charge and international just departure tax?

Will insurance and non-rev benefits be date of hire or do you have to wait?

Who is the 401k plan with?

Thanks for your help,

Speed

First 121 job. All previous 135. Will things like flight case and luggage, headsets, uniforms, and other equipment be discussed in indoc or should I be looking for that prior to class? Thanks.

flight case and luggage: must be black

headsets: provided(for now)

uniforms: can be purchased on your own or through the company

The rest is covered and easy. Focus on indoc and systems.

I haven't met one of us yet who isn't humble enough to know that we're going to have a learning curve and that there will be times when we need to shut up and watch the guys we fly with, no matter which seat we're in, to learn the ins and outs of flying these particular airplanes the way this particular company wants us to fly it. This isn't a moon launch, it's flying airplanes. There will be a learning curve. Help us out so we can be useful and when your chance to upgrade comes, enjoy pushing us down the list. We're looking forward to getting on line and learning from you guys that have been around already but please don't think you're going to be single pilot up there.
This is the perfect attitude for the CQFO's to have. I think we have some FO's, myself included, that flew with some holier than tho' comair guys, that upgraded in 6 months and had ZERO business being in the left seat. Some of them still have no business being there. Come in with this attitude and everything will be peachy and the crew can learn from one another. It's a great chance as an FO to teach a new guy something, which you will be doing a lot of as a captain anyway. From what I've heard from buddies in training we have a good crop of CQFO guys in the school house.

Just please don't end up being a tool bag like some of these comair guys. Value the input of your fellow crewmember like a good captain should, and don't look at me like I'm a dip sh*t when I tell you the can is illegal and the MEL hasn't been complied with and make me dig my feet in and say we aren't leaving till it's taken care of. Yes, it has happened. Rant over for the day

In all seriousness, welcome aboard guys, we are glad to have you. I could care less what your personality or background is, I just want to get there in one piece without being violated.

Hi everyone,

I just applied and was called to interview for an FO position next week. I have 2000TT, but all part 91, so I need to get my 1000 121 (plus trans states insurance mins) before I would be eligible to upgrade.

Assuming I were to get offered a job, and assuming I was able to start class in February (hopefully) or early March, would I have missed the boat so to speak on the possibility of a fast upgrade? I've heard they were putting 40 people every two weeks through training the past few months, and I'm wondering if anyone hired at this point would be on the back side of the wave?

Thanks!

You are good man. We didn't even have 35 total in December. So basically we will have one month of full classes. You can knock out that 1000 in 13-14 months on line. Growth plus the attrition will put you in a good spot. Better than anywhere else anyway.
