I have not flown the 145 yet but I'm coming form the E175...which was the only thing nice about RAH...everything else was just a bit better than getting AIDS
if you programmed it correctly, you didn't need to touch the Thrust Levers or Control Column from after Rotate till landing in the Flare.
It will make speeds (under most conditions) and Altitudes as programmed in the FMS ( it will even arrest the descent and slow down before going below 10,000 if you're above 250, again if you're not in manual speeds)
so...we'll see how the 145 left seat thing plays out

I remember sitting in the jumpseat of a 175 and being amazed that the guys didn't touch the controls from just after rotation until in the flare. If you're not gonna fly the damn thing, why suffer through a career as a pilot?

I'm guessing this is your first rodeo.

Yeah. That's a problem with a lot of TSA guys. They don't have any experience outside of TSA so they don't know how an airline should run or how well a contract could read. And they've only flown the 145. Tunnel vision... Oh well, change is coming

The 145 has a "VNAV" function, though it is not approved for use. If you think it's a good system and easy to use, you are crazy. Have you flown any other aircraft with a real VNAV that is actually approved for use? The 145 "VNAV" function is horrible! Rockwell/Collins nailed it.

You do realize that IlliniPilot would upgrade to the 145 if he stayed at RAH, right? Hundreds of pilots have made the switch at RAH with zero problems. Throughout aviation history thousands of pilots have upgraded into the left seat of an airplane they have never flown before without a problem.

My point is, it's an airplane. It's not even remotely close to hard to fly or slow down or to even do an RNAV arrival with no capable VNAV. Be a pilot and fly the damn thing.
Nice dig on the contract btw...and if you think change is coming, ask the class of Comair guys that were fired because.....At Comair and on the CRJ it's like this...why do we do this, at Coooommmmmaaairrr we did this....at commmmaaaaaiiiirrrr that was better.
