Especially being a CQFO, you're going to have enough sh!t to learn, I'd advise not having to worry about limitations a week before your checkride like a few people that are no longer at the company.

I'm done... Carry on with you contract measuring or whatever you guys enjoying doing on your days off.
Totally agree. Show up and take it seriously. How hard is that? Or take the new American mentality...party and live by the gouge and hopefully you make it through.

The check airman already know who is sharp in the class, and who played with their balls for 4 weeks. Trust me, if you are guy number 2, your oral will not be easy.

I can also second the instructor asking limitations every day in class, and you don't want to be the moron on week 3 that still can't figure out what the max altitude is.

From what I understand it only applies to 121, and 91k operations. Thoughts?

Cumulative Limitations Relative to Part 91 Operations. The cumulative limitations prescribed in § 117.23 include all flying by flightcrew members on behalf of any certificate holder or 91K program manager. Thus, even if a part 91 flight is not operated pursuant to part 117, that flight still counts for purposes of the cumulative limitations of part 117 if it is flown on behalf of a certificate holder or 91K program manager. However, the part 117 cumulative limits can be exceeded while the flightcrew member is on a non-part 117 flight segment; that flightcrew member is simply prohibited from beginning the next part 117 flight segment if he or she cannot complete the part 117 segment within the pertinent cumulative limits.

The way I read it, it applies to all flying done for any certificate holder and not just the one you are working for.

Just a quick reminder of the open house on January 6th and 7th in IAD. Please spread the word. Interviews for FO and CQFO will be being held provided the applicant has all documents and application on file. Plus, highly prefered current 121 pilot.

Further details on the company website.

This is spot on. You may not be tested, but will be constantly drilling them in class. You don't need them perfect on day one, but you need to be very familiar with them. Also don't think just because you have them perfect day 1 you can set them aside till the checkride. You need to practice them constantly. The APDs at Trans States are no joke, and they know who the guys are that are working hard and who is slacking. They have no mercy on slackers. They are fair but will not just give you a pass. Best way I found to get good at them was recording me asking questions on my phone/tablet and recording the answer after a period of time to give you a chance to answer. This gets you used to responding to oral stimulation. An old time TSA Captain showed me this and it works really well. Flash cards are good too.

My tip for training is to actually read the manuals and systems. You're going to get caught up on flash cards and study guides of all the oral questions. You might get by with just the study guide, all you need is 80% knowledge to pass the oral, but actually sit down and read so that you actually understand what you're regurgitating from those flash cards/study guides.

Wait - there's a percentage value on passing the oral? Back in the day it was you knew damn near everything = pass....you don't know a few things = failed.

The shovel was yours, and it was on you to stop digging yourself into a hole.
