Quick question regarding reserve. Are you able to bid various reserves or are they auto assigned? Specifically Long call, short and airport ready. As most pilots here are probably commuters, I would imagine everyone wants long call. Just trying to get an idea of how the reserve system actually plays out. Thanks

Quick Q regarding the cqfo program. What is the pay during training? Per diem? Also, what about hotels, does TSA pick that up and are they single occupancy? Thanks.

Pay is 60 hours a month until you're out on the line. No per diem because you are STL based until reassigned. Hotel is provided and is single occupancy.

The union wants hard language on long call. Management wants it, Union wants it, Crew Scheduling doesn't. It is a work in progress. I think due to staffing we will see long call in January and February and then probably never again for a long time due to rapid growth and tons of flying.

Because, why waste our time? We supply our contract and point out all the little minute parts that are better at your dying airline and that somehow makes you feel better about looking down on us or trying to convince others to not come here.
Look, you have no interest in TSA, fine. Just drop it. Sorry your company lost some planes. Sorry things look good over here. Does that make you feel better?

I'll say the TSA contract needs work particularly in vacation accrual and min day pay or trip rigs for line holders. Pay isn't bad but could use a raise as well. I don't have any of the MOUs that have been signed recently but this is what is in the contract:
-100% Leg by leg Cancellation Pay
-100% Deadhead pay as of Aug 1, 2014
-75 hours MMG for Line Holders and Reserve
-$25/month Uniform Allowance
-4 hour Min Day Pay for Reserves or Day Off pickup
-5 hours for Airport Reserve (10 hours long)
-150% for Junior Assignment on Day Off
-150% for Open Time Pickup
-4 hours per day of Training
-.3 hour for Drug Test
-Unlimited Commuter Policy
-12 minutes for Taxi pay (non-flight related) Except 24 minutes in ORD and IAD
-401K: Upon completing year one (1) to completion of year four (4): Company match of fifty percent (50%) of the pilot’s salary deferral up to four percent (4%) of compensation. (Maximum match of two percent (2%) of compensation).
Upon completing year four (4): Company match of fifty percent (50%) of the pilot’s salary deferral up to six percent (6%) of compensation. (Maximum match of three percent (3%) of compensation).
-Insurance: the pilot cost sharing contribution under the Health Benefits Plan for the employee-only tier shall not exceed thirty-eight percent (38%) of the COBRA cost, and the pilot cost sharing contribution for the employee +1 and employee +2 tiers shall not exceed fifty percent (50%) of the COBRA cost.
-LTD: The Company shall provide to all pilots who have completed their probationary period, at no cost to the pilot, a LTD insurance policy with benefits equal to sixty percent (60%) of the pilot’s monthly income subject to a monthly maximum benefit of one thousand dollars ($1,000), based on the pilot’s applicable hourly rate times 85 hours, and continuing until the pilot is no longer disabled or until age 65, whichever is earlier.
-Vacation Accrual: 1 Year 7 Days;2 to 5 Years 14 Days;6 to 13 Years 21 Days;14 Years and over 28 Days. Paid at 3.25 per day. Only carry over 1 week. Use it or lose it.

According to APC, payscale is above Expressjet's for the ERJ on both scales, pretty close (~$1-3) to Skywest on the 50 seat scale and above Envoy's on the FO scale while staying close (~$1-2) on the CA scale. Its also higher than Mesa, PSA, RAH, and Endeavor. If you throw in the 51-79 seat rate, its higher than both Compass and GoJet scales while closely matching (~$1-2) the Horizon CA scale.
Anyone that has been in the industry a while will know that a payscale is really a small fraction of your pay. The big problem is that TSA lacks a lot of soft pay rules(still way more than RAH). They are already opening negotiations on the 11th with the DO and the contract isn't even up yet. Hopefully, they will throw in a little raise with a 4 hour min day for line holders or trip rigs, increase to 12 days off regardless of month, maybe 200% for Junior Assignment with comp day (that can be cashed out), increase in sick/vacation accrual and an increase in 401k.
