Ya know, since we'll be senior to them by two years at minimum. Cause that sounds about as rediculous and argueing that a bunch of 2015 hires should upgrade before 2013 hires which is what you're doing.

The fact is neither me nor them are any more entitled to an upgrade. Its just the time honored tradition of a little thing called a SENORITY LIST.

I'm simply worried that by the time I have the upgrade mins where they currently are still a year from now (1.5 years since i'm about to be on military leave for 5 months) there will be no more upgrade classes running and i'll have to wait another 6 months or a year or whatever on top of that when the demand for captains was there and high the entire time and a simple and minor shift in the upgrade minimums by 500 hours, or less than 15% and i'd have been able to enjoy the career progession of this growth that everyone else gets to. And i'm not the only FO from 2013 that will be in the same boat. Far from it.

And just because a bunch of people had to wait 5 or 10 years to upgrade at other companies or have worked at 5 or 6 different regionals doesn't mean that I should have to. That was a different economy and a different generation. I paid my $150,000 and taught for 4.5 years making no money just like everyone else. I've been building my career for 6 years too and working just as hard. That "I walked to school two miles up hill in the snow back in my day attitude" is bull****. Your suffering is not my fault and you shouldn't get any special treatment now because of it.

Here's a thought, how about get out of the regionals and go to jet blue or virgin or frontier or spirit or air cargo or corporate and stop fighting for entry level jobs that are beneath you anyways.
Were you unaware of the upgrade minimums when you were hired at TSA?

Whose fault is it (obviously not yours) that you accepted a position at an airline that allows CQFOs?

Plus if you do get bypassed, you get captain pay. And no bypass may exceed 6 months.

THANK YOU! This argument, or lack thereof, sounds soooo similar to guys on reserve complaining about not flying. Read your damn contract. If you aren't flying and you haven't volunteered once in 6 months because you think RVL means airport reserve, I don't feel bad for you. This contract we fly under controls our job, and in turn, our life. Completely mind bottling that people don't take the time to read it.

Stemming off what MavAv8r said, every employee on property is PROTECTED. What does that mean? It means if you have the requirements to upgrade, a CQFO WILL NOT stay in the left seat and prevent anyone currently on property from upgrading. At that point, CQFOs will be downgraded to FOs as they get replaced by pilots currently on property as the get the call to upgrade. So to everyone that's currently at TSA, calm down! There shouldn't be a single one of you that's angry or upset right now. Your QOL just drastically took a turn for the better, and if you're an FO, you'll be a CPT faster than anyone else in the industry. Time to enjoy the ride a little bit....

And a CQFO that basically direct entry's to a CA seat cannot get displaced by a junior pilot unless there's displacements/downgrades, correct?

If I'm understanding you correctly, no. CQFOs will immediately be moved back to the right seat when FOs on property meet the requirements.

Example: ONCE STAFFED, lets say 10 FOs meet the requirements and they want to run an upgrade class of 10. All 10 of those pilots will upgrade, and the 10 most junior CQFOs will then return to the right seat after completing their FO ride and line check. Hope that helps everything make a little more sense.

One thing to keep in mind if you get here at the start of this wave. If you are hired as a CQFO you can put a bid in for upgrade just like any other FO, and because we have a lot of FOs here who are not qualified for Captain, you can jump a bunch of these guys and get a regular bid to Captain from which you cannot be displaced by more Senior FOs.

Well I heard from a pretty good source that all 36 are being treated as growth. There are 18 aircraft that are up for lease return in the future and there is a possibility that these will be returned if the company cannot negotiate favorable lease terms. As things stand right now there are no plans to park any aircraft as they expect the terms of the leases to be favorable enough to keep the aircraft.

True true, didn't think of that.

This is fair.

But they can just jump us by putting in a regular captain bid and then not be displaced by us.

Anyways. John said they do not presntly have any intentions of lowering upgrade minimums because they think they can get enough staffing from hireing cqfos off of American Eagle and Xjt while upgrading those with the time already here. So that is that for now.

And to whoever asked, yes I was aware of the upgrade minimums and I can live with them im just super bumed as I was hoping woth such demand we would lower them.
