Btw it's not captain's pay. It's a blended rate as an FO and full pay when flying as a captain.

I have to agree with you on this big time. Honestly this could be a disaster if mgmt wants it to. At my first airline they hired a bunch of DEC since there wasn't enough FO's qualified to hold the position. Once the music stopped and they didn't hire anymore we were all SOL on upgrading since there was no need to. There's a damn good chance the same can happen to you guys.

Heres a thought, what about lowering the upgrade minimums first so those of us who have already been on property for over a year and a half and have company expirence can upgrade before you start handing new hire fo's captain pay??

If we need to offer deals like cqfo for staffing cause god knows with our fleet nearly tripling we need something I understand but lets not alienate our current employees in the process. I cant be the only fo whos been here a year and a half or more that thinks this way.
Here's a thought... The insurance companies make the minimums for upgrade depending on the monthly premium and coverage you require on the policy..

Lowering minimums is stupid!! Asking for trouble doing that

Wait, What? Is it because of the most recent article saying United is going to re bank and up gauge in Chicago? A lot of people like making sweeping assumptions based on a one page article.

Trust me when I say the head guy in recruiting knows this and is doing everything in his power to look out for and protect the guys already on property. He is one of your biggest allies. He is a good dude.

The minimums have been mich lower in the past. Raising them was a reaction to runway overruns that were because of incorrect performance information and a lack of thrust reversers. A two year fo at this company who as 2500 hours is less risky as an upgrade than hireing a bunch of people off the street that have only 1000 more total time but that may not even be time in type and is not familiarity with our company our sop or the quirks of our planes the only way that they should be upgraded before us is time in type. Yes it makes sense that a chq guy or an eagle or xjt guy who already has 1000-2000 hours or more in the 145 of course would probably be a great captain.

But 2500 hours is basically as low as anyone can go now due to the feds. (1000 turbine plus the 1500 we needed to get hired.) And also the minimums at many other regional airlines including compass and you dont see their planes falling out of the sky.

A fair deal for both the incoming new hires with expirence and those of us who have been here over a year would be to lower the mins to 3000 but keep the up to 500 credit for time on type on property.

And you're and idiot of you think a mere 500 hour ddecrease in upgrade mins is "asking for trouble"

But dont lower the mins, whatever, ill sit right for another year cause so many other people have had to sit right seat forever. Then, when my time finally comes, it wont be any longer than expected and i wont even have to sit reserve at all.

But if my upgrade doesnt happen on time because they filled those seats with a bunch of people junior to me and oops now we're all good on captains so we arent running more upgrade classes im gonna be ****ed.

Everyone on property is protected. It's in the contract.

I am neither a riddle or atp grad and I am not complaining about my upgrade not coming when mommy and daddy said it would im complaining about our company inadvertently ****ing a bunch of current fo's.

If you're currently furloughed from somewhere and come here for the hope of a quick upgrade and higher pay just becaude thats the best way to make the best of your situation and keep your qol on par with where you are at good for you. If you jump ship for somewhere so you can take my upgrade for yourself cause you made a ****ty choice of airlines to begin with you can go **** yourself.

Fair enough if you were a captain at your last job, you have a right to be captain here. You would ***** if the rolls were reversed and you know it.

Maybe a little less "me me me" and a little more "read your contract." You have a copy right?
