If, for some reason, the cynical side of me loses yet again this year (never thought we would get a TA without a cooling off period) I'm going to be the first one bidding for that French chick.

I've wanted to fly the ATR ever since I was a small inner-city youth.

I hear that. There's something about the ATR that's sexy.

Unfortunately, I hate to break it to you, but there's a part of the new contract (Section 24.D.1 Restriction to Vacancy Bidding) that says:

Pilots may bid from their current positions into positions requiring training only if the position bid has a higher rate of pay, except:
And the "except" part doesn't apply because we are not split into divisions. Therefore, since the ATR would be on the same pay scale as the ERJ, you might be stuck on the jet I know, it's kind of a bummer. Maybe they will make some exceptions, such as when the time comes to upgrade (that counts as a higher rate of pay, right?). But you have to consider what you want to upgrade on, the jet or the turboprop?

Oh but of course I would be upgrading into it. I have the time and knowing how many people have been applying to this place in the past 4 months (almost nil) they would be desperate enough to lower the company time requirement.

I mean if I couldn't hold CA in the airplane until I had 1500 company time....that wouldn't take much since about 9000 of the sr EMB FOs have the time and want to re-upgrade into something that makes more money.

IF, and that's a big if, we get the ATR.....everyone's QOL would improve 10 fold (as long as you're on property at the moment).

Not going to lie...my initial life plan was to be flying the ATR at Eagle after college.....alas I didn't have the 100ME to apply back when I was a young whippersnapper.

Yeah, this place is so small now that any significant new flying means everybody on property now gets an upgrade. (or re-upgrade)...

No, I heard that once the TA is passed that he will spin up a new company and hire captains off the street and pay them TSA plus $1

Could TSA even fly ATRs for American? Doesn't American's scope prevent anyone except American Eagle from flying anything over 50 seats?

Yes TSA has payscales for the ATR. Same rates as the 50 sear jet. We're not talking about flying for AA. even if eagle were to be divested (which is far from a certain thing) it could take months or years for AA to get other regionals flying for them. Not to mention the scope issues.
