Both. ORD will be the biggest base when it is up and running at 50 lines.

It said in the memo that it will be up to 8 planes by oct. That's less than a third of our fleet. Won't be the biggest, at least for now.

I was told 10-11 planes by the end of the year. It will probably be just as big as STL if not bigger eventually. I'm wondering how much they will end up taking from each base. Upgrades have stopped until June so it looks like upgrade will be about 1 year. Of course everything could change if we get new flying. I'm hearing that they are ramping up the training department. New sim instructors and check airmen.

I have a friend there who was hired a year plus ago but is short mins. If they stop upgrades until July, he said he and a bunch of other guys will be caught up by then. He also heard rumors of lowering upgrade mins a little. I doubt they are considering hiring off the street.

When I was a young tyke and TSA was desperate for Captains they had lowered the upgrade minimums to 1500 Hours TT, but I think that included a 500 Hour credit for time in company aircraft, so it was actually 2,000 hours w/o company time. If they get upgrade times that low, there's really no difference between a new hire and a street captain.

Supposedly it will be 50 lines when they are finished moving stuff around. If that happens it will be the biggest base. Upgrades have slowed/stopped because there are not enough FOs. Once hiring catches up upgrades will begin again. Lots of activity to suggest more airplanes coming but nothing official. Upgrades were supposed to take June, July, August off but now that has changed due to the FO situation and training staffing. I ran into an IOE Captain last week that had been waiting 3 months for OE.

If more airplanes come then upgrade time will decrease. If they don't then you are looking at a year or two for upgrade, depending on how long FOs hired in 2012 take to reach upgrade time.
