I mean, come on, all of those XJT planes are just falling out of the sky because of the unapproved headsets, right? Right?

^^^ yyyyyyep... Our class and I'm sure all other classes were warned about that 30 day suspension stuff IS REAL during Basic Indoc under "Approved Headsets" in the GOM.

The company took three weeks away from me this summer.... So if I want 30 days off all that I have to do is wear my own headset... noted

BS, that would never stick in court. Either those guys rolled over (for something else), or it's just a made up/exaggerated story.

"Approved Headsets" in the GOM
That's WAY different than "recommended in the flight manual".

I highly recommend taking an aviation law class or that your company teach you a bit about the difference between "accepted" and "approved" and things that are "recommended".

Then the question is, is the manual "FAA approved" or accepted? What's the regulatory requirement to follow the manual? What do the opsspecs say? Is this a GOM or AFM?

And although the FSDO is going to be riding along at times, what is the CMO's position on this?

Ill find all this and more in a few short hours. Ha! Sounds a little out there if you ask me. But. Then again, it could be a fsdo doing everything possible to screw someone they have a bone to pic with at tsa...its a little weird to me. Seems to be on the border of words vs. legality.

If you have, or when you do see the FSDO guy (POI) walking around the building during training, look at the hat he wears. It speaks volumes to the kind of people you're dealing with....... That's all I'll say...... Enjoy your interview. It's easy, just be youself, and know how to solve the common enigma (jk)...

Might be helpful to realize that 121 carriers are managed by CMOs, not FSDOs. FSDOs are for general aviation and 135. CMO could be in the FSDO, but many are not.
