I did that one for many years when I was based in STL. Pretty easy if you use Southwest, they're really good about getting you on, even at the last minute. Plus the employee parking is right next to the terminal at Love Field, walking distance in an air conditioned walkway. And the monthly parking pass is $40 IIRC.
DFW, on the other hand, is a nightmare. I hate it. Best of luck if you get IAD.

I commute from FLL. It's 2 legs either through ATL-Delta, CLT-USAir, BOS/JFK-JetBlue. UA has 2-nonstops; an afternoon and evening. AA has 2-nonstops out of MIA also an afternoon and evening. I'm out on IOE now, but will begin my IAD commute Sun/05. Still deciding which route I want to head up..

I did DFW-IAD for a few years, it's not that bad... Usually plenty of seats, and semi-convenient times...

I live 500 feet DCA. If you can get into IAD, that would obviously be best, but making your way from DCA to IAD, would be killer. Right now the metro (subway) doesnt go all the way out to IAD. They are building the silver line portion of the metro that will connect all the way out to IAD, but it is WAY behind and will be several more years (my guess based on everything else behind schedule in this god forsaken city). Furthermore, metroing would certainly be expensive too. I am sure there is a bus, but then you are at the whims of the DC drivers....and that is a story over a beer.
Good luck, I hope it works for you, but after living here for that last two years, I dont think it would be a commute (DCA-IAD) that I would want to endure. I hope you can get into IAD direct.

Can anybody share what your average per diem is in a month?

Using some old math, 15 days x 24 hours = 360 hours x $1.75 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) = $530.
That's a guesstimate based on a 19-day work month. On reserve, much less.
