I did that one for many years when I was based in STL. Pretty easy if you use Southwest, they're really good about getting you on, even at the last minute. Plus the employee parking is right next to the terminal at Love Field, walking distance in an air conditioned walkway. And the monthly parking pass is $40 IIRC.

DFW, on the other hand, is a nightmare. I hate it. Best of luck if you get IAD.

Cool thanks. I have an interview coming up this month. I was wondering if SWA was an option because I might be able to park at DAL for free.

I commute from FLL. It's 2 legs either through ATL-Delta, CLT-USAir, BOS/JFK-JetBlue. UA has 2-nonstops; an afternoon and evening. AA has 2-nonstops out of MIA also an afternoon and evening. I'm out on IOE now, but will begin my IAD commute Sun/05. Still deciding which route I want to head up..

Yeah, the Wright Amendment, as you may know, only allows SWA to go from DAL to bordering states before continuing on to further and farther destinations. The two exceptions to this rule are Kansas City and St. Louis. Not that it will matter after October 16th, 2014 when that damn Amendment gets laid to rest once and for all!

Love riding on LUV.

I did DFW-IAD for a few years, it's not that bad... Usually plenty of seats, and semi-convenient times...

They are building the silver line portion of the metro that will connect all the way out to IAD, but it is WAY behind and will be several more years (my guess based on everything else behind schedule in this god forsaken city). Furthermore, metroing would certainly be expensive too. I am sure there is a bus, but then you are at the whims of the DC drivers....and that is a story over a beer.

Good luck, I hope it works for you, but after living here for that last two years, I dont think it would be a commute (DCA-IAD) that I would want to endure. I hope you can get into IAD direct.
I use both DCA and IAD for my commute. DCA is not a problem. Just allow 45 minutes to an hour and a half to get to IAD. I usually average about 50 minutes, but I avoid using it during AM or PM rush hours. Metro Fare is 5 bucks to West Falls Church, and the crew rate on the DC Flyer bus is 4 bucks, so you are looking at 9 bucks each way.....

Blue and silver. If you need a uniform... I have one that I won't be using anytime soon, I don't think...

Using some old math, 15 days x 24 hours = 360 hours x $1.75 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) = $530.

That's a guesstimate based on a 19-day work month. On reserve, much less.
