My bet is all this bluster about new flying with blow up in our face as usual. It's happened four times in five years. Why should this time be any different?

Ding ding ding. I think it's AMR stuff. Management has been extremely positive lately. When I was at school a couple weeks ago, they were almost giddy about the future of TSA. It was...interesting...to say the least.
Did hear today new hire class of 9 on April 16th...and they've only gotten a handful of the recalls to come back.

No surprise they are excited. They usually are right before everything falls apart. You guys are all too gullible
Hey I'll be the first one to profess my wrongness if anything actually happens. And I do hope that something does happen. But what history has taught us and my hope are two completely different things.

Funny, ive heard this is the reason why ExpressJet has new hire classes scheduled indefinitely (800 this year) and 400 upgrades as well scheduled for this year. The only reason i believe this is because we have no other new flying and we're certainly not losing that many. Not to mention our old CEO is now at American. But what do i know, crazy industry! We have to be hiring this much for some reason! I would never want growth at the expense of Eagle guys tho!

I would probably say that you could be right about expressjet getting a lot of flying. The only thing this doesn't disprove is the fact that TSA may be getting 10? 20? planes worth and maybe you guys will get the rest. You have to think all that TSA has is 22-24 airplanes right now. Getting even 20 would be doubling the size of the fleet and justify the crazy happiness people are talking about. 20 planes is just a drop in the bucket for a place as big as expressjet.

Yeah, even 20 planes would make every FO on the property a captain.

Im willing to bet they are happy because they got to keep 6 airplanes, thats a huge acomplishment for them. Any future AMR flying is just that a RUMOR, and if it came to be it would be long from now!

Honestly if anyone is on the fence about coming back then you should come back. Especially if it's not your intention to leave the profession all together and you haven't found anything else in the time you have been furloughed. But I would be looking for another place ASAP. Just assume that another furlough is right around the corner.
