On another note, ran across some math I did a couple of months ago just for sh!ts and giggles (based on the January 1, 2012 Seniority List and the 2011 Contract Hourly Pay Rates x Guarantee, totally disregarded Per Diem, Vacation, and all those other pesky numbers):
HK's Monthly Pilot Salary Cost:
Captains - $888,409.00
First Officers - $405,386.25
HK's Yearly Pilot Salary Cost:
Captains - $10,677,708.00
First Officers - $4,864,635.00
Combined Yearly Pilot Salary Cost - $15,542,343.00
At some point I'll do the math for 90 hours/month + per diem + vacation and try to come up with a more realistic cost for our salaries. Let's call it an even $20 million for funsies.
Now, figure HK's making $4,000 per departure and we operate 100 flights/day.
$4,000 x 100 = $4,000,000/day x 365 = $146,000,000.00/year
$146,000,000.00 - $20,000,000.00 = $126,000,000.00 for all those other expenses.
I wonder what the leases on our aircraft cost per month... and then there's the question of fuel. And I wonder what the combined salaries of the people at HQ are? We know the schedulers aren't making jack squat, talent costs money and there's a serious talent-deficit in that department.
Anyway, now it makes sense why he owns a $7,000,000 home on the east coast of Florida.

I wonder how much our Mx cost for an entire year? Or even how much we average on a nightly basis. Some parts are RIDICULOUSLY expensive! I found out last week that a full set of new pax seats on an Embraer costs $250K. Pretty sure that doesn't include cushions/seatbacks, etc. Just the frames and tray tables. An IDG on a CRJ is nearly the same cost, but changing one of those is rare. Then all the normal nightly items like batteries, tires, brakes, generators, hardware, etc, etc has to add up quick. Plus I would say at least 25+ people in the hangar 24/7 at a rate of $16-25/hour.

I think I've heard 80K a month on some of the planes.. And they were trying to get that number down.

I must say how incredibly impressed I am that out of all the regionals you guys know how to not keep creating new threads anytime news pops up. It's always brought to this one and makes reading through the ups and downs of the flow of the company much easier. I feel honored to have partaken in this thread myself when I was looking at TSA earlier in the year.
My hats off to you guys, wish you the best whatever the future holds.

I heard about the same also. It's shocking coz the southwest boys I just spoke too, told me they heard southwest leases their 73s for 80k too ....yeah that's right guys.....and they carry 2.75 times more passengers...oh and....the AirTran 717s cost $120,000/mth.
145s ought to be pretty cheap right now. But it seems like the lessors would rather stick em in the desert and get $nothing/mth. Bravo Wells Fargo, Bravo.

To All Employees,
I want to share with you some exciting news for all of us at Trans States Airlines. As you may have heard in our recent
town hall meetings, we have been busy looking for the best opportunity for our four aircraft currently flying for US
Airways in New York, as well as additional flying opportunities for growth. This past week we reached an agreement
with United Airlines to add six aircraft to our current fleet with them. This means that in addition to the four US Airways
aircraft, we will also retain leases on two aircraft we were originally returning to the Lessor.
These six aircraft are going to be added starting in May of this year and will fly at a minimum through September 2013.
We were able to reach an agreement that is inline with our current costs, as compared to the financial arrangements
that we had under our previous arrangement, so it made sense to reach this deal.
The first two aircraft commence service in May, one in June and the last three in late July. By August, we will have a
fleet of 22 aircraft, 17 flying for United, three flying for US Airways, and two spares to support both operations.
The positive result of reaching this agreement is a cancellation of the furloughs that were planned in March, and we
expect to recall pilots from furlough in the coming months. As you can imagine, this is quite good news that I am
pleased to be able to share with all of you.
This flying was awarded to Trans States Airlines because we were able to provide a competitive cost as well as the fact
we have seen significant improvement to our operational performance over the past year. I want to thank all of you for
playing a key role every day in our performance, clearly it was a tremendous help in getting this new business, and I
encourage you to keep it up in the coming months.
I am optimistic that as we continue to deliver a dependable, quality and safe product that provides excellent service to
our major partners, more opportunity will come our way. Please work with me to do all we can to put ourselves in a
position to win the business when the opportunity presents itself.
Congratulations on a job well done and let’s keep it up!
Got you broskis covered.
